He lifts himself up on his arms and thrusts into my body. His features twist in concentration. His eyes, glazed over with lust, stare at his cock as it moves in and out of me.

I lean back further as shivers of delight go down my spine.

Yes!

I feel my body bouncing on top of him as he moves faster. Then he grips one of my arms and comes to a halt.

Gavin pushes me gently off him and makes me lie down on my side. Then he, too, goes on his side. I feel his chest against my back. He plants a kiss on my shoulder as he lifts my thigh.

He enters me from behind. I gasp. He starts pounding into me and I clutch the sheets. I bury my face in the cotton and let my cries spill onto the bed.

After a few thrusts, Gavin buries himself deep inside me. His fingers grip my thigh. I, too, tumble over the edge a second time. My nails dig into his arm as my back arches. My body trembles with his and squeezes him of every drop he has to give.

Afterwards, my arm falls over my breasts. My shoulders rise and fall as I gasp for air. I hear Gavin’s heavy breathing behind me as well. I feel it against my neck.

He lets my thigh go but stays inside me. His arm goes around my stomach. His hand rests on it.

I place my hand on top of his. I can feel his heart beating against my skin and I wait for it to slow down along with mine.

“How did you find me again?” I ask Gavin after I’ve caught my breath.

“Angelo,” he says.

Right. That’s what he called that heavily built man who was with him earlier, the same man who was with him when he saved me from being abducted.

“Did he use to work for the military?” I ask. “CIA?”

“It’s a secret,” Gavin answers.

Okay.

“I guess he found out about Giselle’s granduncle’s property.”

“He did.”

“I think with a bit of work, it will be beautiful.”

“A bit? It looked on the verge of falling apart. I’m surprised you were able to sleep in it.”

“I was just happy to have a place to sleep in.”

“You have one at my apartment,” Gavin says. “You are coming back with me, aren’t you?”

I move away from him and feel his cock slide out. Some of his cum trickles out of me as well. I ignore it and turn around to face him.

“I’ll only come back if you promise you won’t let anyone take our baby,” I tell him.

His eyebrows crease. “Didn’t I already promise that?”

I’m just making sure.

“And if I can bring Giselle back with me. None of this is her fault. It was all my idea. All she did was be a good friend to me.”

Gavin strokes my hair. “I know. Even when Angelo, his men and I had her surrounded, she wouldn’t say where you were.”

I smile as I trace circles on his arm. “She really is a good friend.”

“She is,” he agrees.

I meet his gaze. “So I can keep her?”

Gavin nods.

I give him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you.”

“So you’re coming back to the apartment with me?” he asks.

I nod. “If that’s where you want me and the baby to live.”

He smiles. “I guess we have to put up a nursery.”

His words send joy welling up in my chest. “That’s a great idea.”

A nursery. A home. A family with the man I love.

I can feel my face light up as I look into his eyes.

God, I love him.

“But before that, I think that you and I need a getaway,” Gavin says.

My eyes grow wide. “A getaway?”

“You know, you and me getting away from everything. Me having you all to myself.”

He plants a kiss on my arm.

“Isn’t this a getaway?” I ask.

“No. This is a rescue mission.”

“Okay.”

I guess a getaway isn’t such a bad idea, especially after everything we’ve been through lately.

“Where are we going away to?”

“Hmm.” Gavin touches his chin. “Let’s just say it’s a place where there’s lots of peace and quiet.”

I smile. “I like it already.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

Gavin

Leah does seem to like the place, I think as I watch her do yoga on the beach.

Right now, she has the soles of her feet and her arms flat against her mat. Her knees and hips are raised, though, and her back is arched. Her belly bulges out, peeking beneath the hem of her tight-fitting white shirt. Her eyes stare right up at the windswept clouds which are splattered in gold by the rays of the sun rising above the horizon. Beyond her, the white-tipped waves take their time coming to the shore. The melody they play, combined with the songs of a few seabirds, provides the background music to Leah’s morning routine.

I enjoy listening to it as well as I drink my coffee while leaning on one of the columns of the lanai.
