Broken Truths (The Frayed Trilogy 2)

“Honestly, for someone completely self-taught, I really am impressed, Grace,” Naomi says, placing her camera onto the small table beside her. “Maybe we should get in some live models for one of our sessions.” She muses.
“Sessions as in plural?” I ask, my hands pausing where they’d been fidgeting with my camera. I’d started off tonight full of nerves and barely able to answer questions, but I found myself becoming more comfortable as time went on.
“Yes.” She laughs. “Five, to be exact, including tonight. So it gives us four more. How did you find tonight?”
“I loved it,” I say, and it’s the truth. Naomi is amazing and so are her skills. Her teaching style is hands-on, and I’m glad that it’s one-on-one instead of the group workshops I saw listed on her website. I already feel like I learned so much in only a short time.
“Well, I really enjoyed our session, Grace. Thank you,” Naomi says.
“I’m pretty sure I’m the one who’s meant to be saying that,” I say, and Naomi laughs.
Just as we’re standing, the front door opens, and Sebastian walks in. The few times I glanced outside over the last couple of hours, his car was still exactly where it had been when we first arrived.Did he sit out there the whole time just so I could do this?
“Perfect timing. We’re just packing up,” Naomi says.
“How’d it go?” Sebastian asks, making his way over to us.
“She’s amazing,” Naomi says before I can answer him. “I can’t wait to see what else she can do.” She gives a full smile, and I feel my cheeks heating at the compliment.
Sebastian’s eyes brim with pride, and I swallow hard, unable to take my eyes off him. The opening of a door breaks me out of my daze, and the three of us swing our heads in that direction.
“Hey, babe,” Naomi says to the man who walks in. “We’re just packing up.”
When he makes it the few steps to where we’re standing, he wraps an arm around her waist and plants a kiss on her lips. Naomi all but melts, running her hand over the low-cut, natural waves of his hair. I smile at the sweetness of their greeting.
“Grace, Sebastian, this is my husband, Darrick,” she says when they pull apart from the brief kiss. “Babe, this is Sebastian and Grace,” she says, gesturing between us.
We exchange greetings, and after Sebastian and Darrick shake hands, Darrick wraps his arm back around his wife. They’re a gorgeous couple, and the way they look at each other leaves no doubt about how they feel about one another.
How do Sebastian and I look at each other?
Mason commented about it this morning, but I hadn’t thought much about it at the time. Now, I was dying to know what he meant when he mentioned how Sebastian looks at me.
