I shook my head and bent down, taking her lips in a searing kiss, feeling my heart calm a bit. “No. Don’t worry about it, okay?”
She took in a huge gulp of air and laid her head on my chest but didn’t reply to me. Beside me, Nikolay looked at her as if she was a ghost.
“She’s okay, Nico,” I said.
He nodded curtly but didn’t say anything.
The drive was silent back to the hotel. Maxim’s phone dinged with a text message just as we drove out the property. He turned to us from the front passenger seat and quietly handed his phone to me.
I looked down at the text message he’d received from an unknown number.
It was an address in Utah.
The phone dinged again, announcing another text message.
