I tried to sit up on the bed, only to be held down by something. Metal clanged above me on the headboard.

I looked up, blinking, trying to make sense of what I was seeing.

I was handcuffed.

What the hell?

“You’re awake. Good. I have been waiting for you, princess.”

I looked up and found Nikolay looming over me, an evil look in his eyes.

I glared at him. “Nikolay. What the hell?”

He tsked. “Such filthy language coming from such an innocent little girl.”

I scoffed. “Not that innocent.”

He grinned wickedly. “You’re right, not that innocent. Not since we got our filthy hands on you, isn’t that right?”

I sighed. “Let me go.”

“Of course I will, baby. There isn’t much I wouldn’t do for you. You know that, don’t you?”

I bit my lip. There was my bomb.

A little unnerving at times, but equally passionate and sweet.

“I know,” I said softly.

“So I need you to do something for me.”

“What?” I asked, unable to stop the suspicion from leaking out in my voice.

He moved his finger down the side of my face. I gave in to temptation and moved closer to his touch. The pleased look in his eyes told me he liked that.

“Tell me what’s got you so down.”

I froze.

He leaned closer to me, and I shifted my eyes to something over his shoulder.

“Nothing?”

He cupped my chin and turned until I was looking at him. “Don’t lie to me, princess. I don’t have enough patience for that.”

My hands yanked on the handcuffs. He did this with a purpose. Only I didn’t know what the purpose was—didn’t want to know.

“Nikolay, stop playing around. Let me go.”

He shook his head. “Tell me.”

“Or what?”

He sat down on the bed and shrugged. “Or nothing. We can sit here in silence while you think about it.”

I looked at him in confusion. Was he really going to do nothing?

“Uncuff me.”
