Chapter 30
Harley
“Get out of here.”I shoo Will’s hand away.“We’re gonna eat in less than an hour.”
“I’ve watched you, you keep eating,” he complains.
“I am heavily pregnant,” I argue with him.“It’s fucking hot and my ankles are swollen, do not argue with me.”
Bishop grabs Will’s hand.“C’mon, little man, let’s go play some Call of Duty with Caelin.”
“Gladly.”He sticks his tongue out at me.
“You’ve got to be nicer to him,” Mom admonishes me.
Justice interrupts.“She’s got to be nicer to everybody.”
“You try carrying around a watermelon on the front of your body and see how you feel,” I retort.“I’m fucking uncomfortable.”
“It gets better,” Grandma says as she comes over to rub my shoulders.“I know it’s hard to think it’s going to, but it will.I promise.”
“I’m so sick of people saying it’s going to get better,” I grumble.“Every time I go and they make me spread my legs, I dread it.She did this thing called scraping my membranes this week.I mean, what the fuck?It hurt so bad.Like, do I want to do this again?I don’t see how you two.”I point to Grandma and Mom.“Had fucking twins and then went back for more.Who hurt you and why are you gluttons for punishment?”
“Why are you so negative?”Justice pops a grape in her mouth, lifting an eyebrow. She leans across the counter, leveling me with a gaze.
“Nobody asked you.”I glare at her.
“Want me to go tell Bishop you need his dick?Maybe it’ll put you in a better mood.”
“Want me to go tell Caelin you’re the one who erased his cameras trying to record a cute message for him?Maybe it’ll put you in the same mood as me.”
“You wouldn’t,” she gasps.“He’ll never forgive me.”
“Just like I’ll never forget how you called me negative while I’m seven months pregnant.”I wave a finger in her face.
“Fine, do you want a milkshake?I’ll go get you one.”
“Really?”I smile brightly.“That’s so nice of you.”
“Oh, I am nice.Gets me away from you for thirty minutes.”She swipes her keys off the counter and ducks as I throw a paper towel roll at her.
“Missed me.”She sticks her tongue out.
“When did Justice get to be such a pain in the ass?”I wrinkle my nose.
Deadpan, Grandma answers, “About the time you got knocked up and lost your sense of humor.”
My head whips around and I kind of understand what she’s saying because I immediately feel my blood pressure rise.“Okay, maybe I need to go outside and chill out for a second.I’m getting on my own nerves.”
Without waiting for an answer, I head to the back porch.I’m out there for a few minutes by myself when I hear the sliding door open.
“Brought you some water.”
Tyler. He’s usually the one who knows when everyone needs a little voice of reason.
“Thank you.”I grab it from him, taking a drink.“You’re the only one who was brave enough to come out here?”
“You could say that.”He grins.“Just checking to make sure you’re okay.I can feel the irritation.”
