Unbroken - Page 117

Now Leo’s eyes narrowed on mine. “That’s not happening, is it?”

“Of course not.”

He grinned. “Good. Do they know about you spending the long weekend with us?”

“They know.”

Oh, they knew.

The whispered conversations they had in the dark about it included a lot of curses.

But I was an adult, and there was nothing they could do about it.

My gaze swung to the gas station where Hunter stepped out. I stifled a laugh. He needed a haircut badly, and his black shirt was so worn out, it had tears and little rips along the collar and shirt. And yet…I don’t know, Hunter rocked it. He was rough, gorgeous, calloused around the edges. His arms bulged, and he was sporting some fresh ink along his forearms. He was every girl’s wicked dream come to life.

When he slipped back into the driver’s side, he threw a bag at me. “Found those rancid as fuck chocolate sticks you like so much.”

I opened the bag and tore into the box. “What would I do without you guys?”

“You would be having a normal birthday,” Leo answered.

“What does that entail?”

“I don’t know. What do you think, Hunter?”

“Bunch of chicks for friends,” Hunter said as he smashed a jerky stick.

Leo nodded as Hunter backed out of the gas station and put us back on the road. “That’s right. Chicks for friends. You’d be having a slumber party with them.”

“Pillow fights, too,” Hunter added with a low groan. “In your panties. A sea of babes in their panties, actually.”

I laughed. “You guys have thought about this.”

“Of you in your panties?” Leo asked, eyes twinkling. “Every damn day.”

I smacked at his shoulder. “Perv.”

Redirecting my gaze to the road, I asked, “How much longer, Hunt?”

“Any minute now,” he answered.

Twenty more minutes later and he got off the highway, turning into a road that wound up the mountainside. All of it was so picturesque, and the weather was a bonus. Hot but not humid. The forecast called for endless blue skies the whole weekend through.

We drove up winding quiet roads and then along a gravel driveway to the most adorable cabin tucked in the midst of tall, magnificent trees.

“You guys have outdone yourselves,” I whispered with emotion.

Hunter parked the car before the cabin and turned off the engine. He smiled softly at me as Leo grabbed my hand and tugged me out. “Come,” he said. “You’ll love it.”

He led me out and to the front steps. He found the keys in the mailbox along with a letter from the owner. He tucked the letter in the pocket of his dress shorts. I looked him over briefly as he shoved the key into the lock. Leo looked so effortless, his casual wear not as casual considering it was tailored to fit his muscled form, his slim fit shirt buttoned halfway to the top, revealing tanned, smooth skin beneath. His arms bulged against the sleeves, muscled and corded; his blond hair was cropped close to his scalp, and unlike Hunter, his cheeks were clean shaven, his jawline pronounced.

Leo looked like a sexy model, while Hunter looked like a hot savage.

“Ready for the best weekend, Skye?” Leo asked me, his eyes settling on mine, then my mouth. A look of hunger flashed through his gaze, fleeting but noticeable, disappearing just as quickly.

I smiled at him, though my heart jumped nervously. “I’m ready.”

The door swung open, Leo took my hand and we stepped in.
