But they knew already.

I’d said it so many times.

“I don’t want to ruin this,” I whispered.

“You think we won’t want you?” he wondered. “Because, sweetness, we have never stopped wanting you. Hunter and I have talked about this.”

“You have?” My voice pitched from surprise.

“We’re possessive, and I want you to myself like Hunter wants you to himself, but…we understand this is the only way we can have you.”

I felt emotion build behind my eyes. “I’m not trying to string you both along, I promise—”

“We know, babe.”

“It’s just…” I pulled away, and Hunter slid back to let me rest on my back so I could look at the two of them as I spoke my truth. “I’m sorry. I really am—”

“Stop,” Hunter cut in, sounding pained. “You have nothing to be sorry for.”

“But I am sorry,” I told him, fervently, “and I don’t like this situation either, but I can’t help what my heart feels. It feels split in two, Hunt. You own one side and Leo owns the other, and right now, both sides are glued together, and I want it to stay that way.”

“You ever wonder if you can let one half go?” Leo asked.

I rubbed my chest at the thought. “I have.”

“And?”

I took a few breaths, but panic had already set in. I had thought about it too many nights to count, until I found myself falling into despair, terrified that I was going to lose them both. That it was inevitable. That we were doomed from the get-go.

I let out a heavy breath, admitting, “I don’t know what you two did to me, but it’s like each of you cut my being into two and made off with both halves of me.”

They didn’t respond, and my words hung heavy in the room. That godawful tension returned, and I didn’t know how to diffuse it. I continued to lay between them, staring up at the black ceiling, unaware I was holding my breath. But then my chest ached, and my face tightened, and slowly, I let out the air in my lungs.

I looked at Leo, but his gaze was trapped on Hunter, and Hunter…he was staring back at him. They were doing that thing again: communicating in silence. Finally, Leo broke away and peered down at me. “We want you,” he declared. “Badly. Equally. One no more than the other. That’s how it has always been, how it’ll always be.”

Before he could continue, Hunter suddenly cut in, his tone blunt. “We want to fuck you, Skye. Leo can polish his words all he wants, but it’s the truth. We want inside you, and not because we want our cocks wet. It’s because we want to feelyouwrapped around us. It’s always you—it’s always been you. There will be no other. We just want you.”

My heart picked up. An excited thrill ran through me as I admitted in a tiny voice, “I want that, too.”

“What do you want exactly?” Hunter demanded, his tone dropping low. “Tell us, Skye.”

“I want you both to touch me.” My cheeks burned as I laid myself bare to them. “I want to touch you back.”

“How far do you want to go? You’re the one in charge here, flower. You gotta let us know.”

My breaths picked up, and I was still not catching enough air. “I want it all.”

Hunter’s stare felt heavy. His body went impossibly still, and his words were so quiet when he asked, “Have you thought about it a lot, Skye? Having both of us?”

I swallowed hard. “Yes.”

“Do you touch yourself thinking about it?”

My voice was smaller. “Yes.”

“If we touched you right now, if we wanted to take you—the both of us, here, tonight, in this very bed—would you want it?”

My voice strengthened. “Yes.”

He made a soft sound that made me quiver at the back of his throat.

“Alright.” He tore his gaze from mine and looked at Leo. “Turn on the light, Leo. Let’s give the birthday girl what she wants.”
