The second the door slammed closed behind them, Hunter trekked the short distance to his closed bedroom with Jesse standing against the wall in the hallway.

Hunter checked the knob, knowing it was already locked. When he discovered it was, he shoved a hand into his pocket and withdrew his keychain. Rifling through the dozen keys, he found his bedroom one and shoved it in.

He expected the room to be bathed in darkness when the door swung open. He expected Skye to be hidden under the covers, crying.

Instead, the light was on, the television in the corner was blaring a random show and Skye was on the floor before the bed in just her yellow bra and purple panties with a pile of Hunter’s clothes around her. Her blonde hair was up in a messy bun as she looked down at a book in her lap with a concentrated expression.

This…

This was not what he expected to see.

Hunter stood still for a moment, knocked speechless, looking down at Skye with a raw hunger in the pit of his stomach.

“Skye?” he whispered questionably.

Her head shot up to look at him. Her eyes were completely dry. In fact, they lit up when she saw him. “Hunt! What are you doing here?”

His brows came together. “I thought…I heard what happened.”

A creak sounded behind him, and he tossed a glance over his shoulder at an astonished Jesse who looked back at him with just as much confusion.

“Oh, that,” Skye replied, flippantly. “Yeah, I needed to be alone for a bit to get over it, but I’m okay. Kurt’s a dick, but I expected that fall-out.”

Hunter looked back at her now, and god, sometimes he forgot how small she really was. “What happened?”

She looked back down at the book in her lap and flipped a page. “I told him about you—about staying with you, and he lost it.”

“What did he do?”

“Just…said some things. Anyway, I left, and now I’m flipping through some of these books I didn’t realize I’d stored in your room. Holy shit, I worried Mom had tossed them away or something.”

He continued to watch her, his heart racing fast. “You left a pile in here for when you snuck inside my room.”

She looked up again to deliver a sly grin. “I remember.”

“Do you want to go now?”

“In a minute.”

“Why are you half-naked?”

“My clothes felt tight. That pub food is going to be the death of me.”

“Can you put something on?”

“Why?”

“So I don’t have to remove Jesse’s eyes.”

Jesse choked out a laugh, and Skye’s grin widened as she went through Hunter’s clothing pile. “I was going through your stuff to do just that but got side-tracked.”

“I can tell.” Hunter’s lips flinched up as she slid into one of his ancient shirts. It swallowed her curves and made her look even tinier. Fuck, he loved when she was wearing his shit. It fed that hunger inside him, the one that screamed,“Take her! She’s yours, yours, yours.”

After sliding into her tights, she gathered the handful of books and shoved them into Jesse’s chest, knocking the air straight out of his lungs. “Carry these. I want to get a bookshelf tomorrow and find a place to store them at the clubhouse.”

“This is romance shit,” grumbled Jesse, as he peered through the titles.

“Break up the stupid books you boys got lying around—”
