Glancing up, I searched for Leo. Miles was in direct view of him. I bumped past others as I rounded them and made to move in his direction—
A flash of black leather caught my peripheral. I turned my head, and my body went still. Tall, dark, hair too long to control, Hunter stood by the ice cream stand, staring right at me. A spark ran down my spine as the air pushed out of my lungs in a sharp whoosh. He turned around and walked away, and I—
I walked after him.

He left the park, walked across the parking lot and turned left down a road. He walked down the sidewalk there with me trailing after him. Half a block away, he made another turn, and by the time I got to that point on the sidewalk, he was gone.
I stood still on the vacant street, peering around. The sun was falling, so the street was cast in shadows. The streetlights flickered on, and I walked hesitantly at first. Alert, I took my time, looking between storefronts, down alleyways, trying to figure out where exactly he went.
My skin tingled, and I glanced over my shoulder.
A figure trailed down the path. He was distant, and I couldn’t see any distinguishable features—
But I recognized that stride.
My lips flinched into a smile because I knew this game. I looked ahead and began to walk, moving fast down the street. I kept a lookout for Hunter, but he was gone. Despite the heat, my body felt cool with anticipation.
I knew exactly where to go.
