I take Jamie’s hand while Finn grabs the keys. As soon as we’re back in the car, I check the family thread on my phone.
“Mom and Gran are at the store,” I say. “They should be here in around half an hour.”
“Sounds good.” Finn cradles the side of my face and leans in for a kiss. “When do you want to tell them?”
I rest my hand on my belly. Two weeks ago, Finn and I found out that we’re expecting a second child. It came as a surprise, though it shouldn’t have; we’ve been all over each other since our first trip here, and while I love pleasuring Finn with my mouth, we both prefer him to finish inside me.
“I don’t know. Tomorrow, maybe? It still feels a little early.”
“We can wait ‘til after Christmas if you want.”
“Maybe.” An idea flits into my mind, like the impulse to do something bratty. Something Daddy wouldn’t approve of. “Or I have that photo from last week’s sonogram.”
Finn arches his brow. “Really?”
I pull up the grainy, black-and-white picture of our tiny bundle of joy. She looks like a little bean. I say she because this one feels like a girl to me, and I have a pretty good track record with these things.
“You sure you want to break the news like that again, baby girl?” He gestures to the backseat where our son is currently snoozing with his mouth open. “Last time was a bit of a shock.”
“I think it all worked out in the end.”
I tap the share option, switch back over to the family thread, and press send.
