Will You
Amidst the uncertainties in Brie’s life, something truly beautiful was happening.
Master Anderson arrived at their house, wanting to check in before the big event. “Are you sure you’ve got everything?”
Sir opened the camera bag. “Yes, but you can check for yourself if you want to.”
Master Anderson waved his hand as if he trusted his friend but then checked the bag anyway. “Just want to be sure… I mean, it’s not like I can have a ‘do over’ if I mess anything up.”
Sir chuckled. “You have nothing to worry about. The only thing that matters is her saying yes, and that’s guaranteed.”
Master Anderson shook his head. “You don’t understand, buddy. I want this to be perfect down to the very last detail.”
Brie grinned. “Master Anderson, I’m sure it will be lovely and everything Shey could ever dream of, but Sir is right. The only thing she is going to remember is that moment you get down on your knee and slip the ring on her finger.”
She was charmed by the pink blush rising in Master Anderson’s cheeks.
“I’ve never met anyone like her, and I want this proposal to be as classy and beautiful as she is. Have I showed you the ring yet?”
Brie’s eyes widened. “No, but I would love to see it!”
Master Anderson started patting his pockets frantically. “I swear I brought it…” His face suddenly lit up, “There it is…” Pulling a small blue ring box from his pocket, he grinned at Brie as he opened it.
“Oh, Master Anderson!” she squealed as she looked at the ring. It was a beautiful French cut diamond with a row of smaller diamonds set in the band. “It’s absolutely exquisite.”
“Just like Shey,” he agreed. “It took me months to find the right one.”
“That’s a lot of searching.”
He nodded. “It was long and hard.”
“That’s what she said,” Brie retorted.
Master Anderson suddenly burst out laughing and slapped Brie hard on the back—so hard, she almost lost her balance.
He immediately grabbed Brie’s shoulders to hold her steady and apologized, “I didn’t mean to send you flying, young Brie. I’m just a little excitable right now.”
Brie giggled. “That’s all right. I kind of like seeing you like this. All nervous and jittery. It’s cute.”
He gave her a half-grin. “Glad I could entertain you.”
“So, are you satisfied with the camera equipment?” Sir asked with a smirk.
“Wait! Let me finish looking through it.”
Smiling at Brie, Sir shook his head while Master Anderson meticulously checked each item in the bag.
“Looks good,” he finally announced. “So, the plan is you head off to the restaurant at six. The staff will show you exactly where to sit. You guys will have plenty of time to set up while I change clothes before picking up Shey and her parents. My family will join you there. So, if any issues arise, they can help.”
“Aww…you had your family fly out, too?” Brie asked him.
“Of course!” Master Anderson replied, laughing. “You have no idea how long my family has been waiting for this moment.” He glanced at Sir. “Remember how determined I was to find the right ‘shoe’ in college?”
Sir stroked his chin thoughtfully. “I do. I also remember the empty plate of brownies, and my new roommate telling me he had eight sisters who’d eaten them all.”
Master Anderson ran his hand through his hair, laughing. “Man, you were so gullible back then.”
Sir gave him a droll look. “How was I to know you were a liar?”
