“I will be okay, Rytsar,” Brie assured him. “But…I am worried about you.”

“Don’t be,” he insisted. “The creature may be ruthless, but I am a Durov and my wrath runs deep.”

After her call to Rytsar, Brie stumbled out of the bedroom.

Sir frowned the moment he saw her. “Are you okay, Brie?”

The second she met Sir’s gaze, she could tell he knew what had transpired in the bedroom.

Oblivious, her father tried to hand her a glass of champagne to toast Holloway’s demise.

Sir took it from him. “Brie needs time.”

Without any further explanation, Sir escorted her father out of the house. When he returned, Sir held out his arms to her.

Brie gratefully walked into his embrace and started to cry. “Poor Reverend Mother…”

She could hear the pain in his voice when he answered, “Yes.”

Sir held her tight as Brie slowly came to grips with the fact that Lilly remained a real and present threat.
