Simeth's Bride (Crystal Glass Dragons 2)

I pulled up a chair beside her, putting the tea aside to let it sit for a few minutes.
“Where were you today?”
I didn’t expect the attention to be back on me this soon. I hadn’t come up with a good enough of an excuse that wouldn’t spark more questions from her. I didn’t want to sustain her penchant for fake creatures.
Dragon shifters were real and so was the kingdom, but that didn’t mean it wouldn’t feed her obsession with aliens or ghosts and make her think those would eventually be proved real too.
At the same time, a part of my mind was contemplating showing her the kingdom and even rehearsing the big reveal.
This woman cared for me, showed me everything in the world, and protected me from the worst of it. She filled my childhood with wonderful stories about dragons and princesses, forming me into the artist I became.
As I set the tea in front of her, I came to a solid decision.
I was going to show her the kingdom, even if it meant that I’d lose Simeth and Crystal Glass for myself forever.
She was worth it.
