Dralle

I’d call her a tease if I didn’t know that I’d eventually have her. Her face when her eyes got all wide with surprise, how I could smell the excitement dripping off of her.

I wanted her.

She wanted me.

Instead of taking her, telling her customers to fuck off, and just pressing her down on that bench and taking a handful of ass, I was trying to calm my cock down as I flew back to the kingdom. Home. She was so fucking sexy, but I knew I had duties at home after breakfast.

I didn’t expect her to actually go for my breakfast date; I’d expected her to turn me away.

The fated mate’s pull was firm on her too.

Good.

My uncle, the king by birth, was having a conference with everyone, and I knew I’d have to attend, or it would be my head. Gliding in, Everglast as beautiful and pearlescent as ever, I felt the same warmth I always did when I came home to the kingdom.

I’d fought for this land, bled, and drew blood.

It was my everything.

“Son!” my father came out onto the landing area as I made my descent.

Shifting back, I was quickly robed by servants who must have been expecting me. The clothing fitted well, as it always did, and was formal enough for the upcoming meeting.

“What’s going on, father?”

“You’re almost late; hurry, boy.”

He grabbed my arm and started hurrying me into the mountain castle.

“What the hell were you doing out of the castle when you knew it was this morning?”

“I had breakfast with Heather,” I mentioned. A smile crossed his face. I knew it would calm him down some.

“When can we expect her to arrive?”

“Oh, it may take a little while,” I admitted. I saw how Rhuron almost cracked his bride by scaring her and dragging her into the kingdom too soon. No way in hell was I going to ruin my chances with her that way.

“Dralle.” He sounded disappointed. “You have to take this more seriously. You need to get her pregnant. You’re not trying to court her into liking you.”

I ignored him.

He and my mother only stayed together long enough to have my brothers and me. No way in hell was I going to take my ‘women’ advice from him. If it was up to him, I would have had her at first sight. Of course, that sounded appealing to me too, but I was trying to build roots here.

I wasn’t trying to scare her away.

This connection was real, vivid, and I wasn’t going to give it all up to try and fill her with my children sooner. The crown would be fantastic, but what the hell would it be worth if I had to rule alone? I’d been through more than any of my cousins or brothers, and I was the youngest. I was ready to be done and have an easier life from here on.

She would be mine. I’d wait it out.

Slipping into the conference room, I kept my head down and found a seat.

King Roland was standing at the front of the room, already speaking. He was looking old recently. I wasn’t sure if it was stress from everything happening or simply because I didn’t see him much outside these meetings. His beard that once was pure brown was now ribboned with gray, and although he wasn’t wearing his crown, you could see that the peak of his head was losing hair.

He ironically looked more like a king now, although he was possibly in his last year of ruling.
