Admittedly, I was a bit of a grumpy asshole, but did he like me despite that or including that? It felt like the difference mattered.
“I like you for you,” a deep and familiar voice caught me off guard.
“Dralle!”
“You’re not scaring her off, are you?” His voice was jokingly accusatory towards the castle Seer as he swept into the room.
“I couldn’t if I tried,” the Seer laughed.
He took a sip of my tea and kissed my cheek. “I’m yours for the afternoon if you want to go sightseeing.”
“You better be hers for longer than that.” The Seer laughed at her own joke, even as she chided him, and I laughed awkwardly, still overwhelmed with everything that was happening.
“I agree,” he smiled down at me. “Let’s go.”
Taking me out of the room by hand, he led me down an empty corridor before cornering me. “Don’t let the Seer scare you; she’s a nice woman once you get to know her.” His dark, nearly black eyes were intense on mine as he spoke.
“I believe you. How were your meetings?”
“I don’t want to think about them right now,” he kissed me against the wall. I wrapped my arms around his hips and kissed him back. I might not yet know what’s going on here, but he was incredible. If this kingdom could create such an amazing man as him, there’s no way it’s terrible.
He tilted his head, deepening the kiss, and my thoughts slipped away like mist. My heartbeat ran faster, and my mind spun with ideas of what I’d like to do to him, thoughts of how he made me feel. I caught myself smiling as we kissed, relaxing and unwinding.
Could he be that bad when he made me feel this good?
My mind retraced the vision, and I decided I’d have to do everything I could to change it.
Fate gave me this incredible man. I was going to do everything I could to keep him mine.
