“You sure as hell got lucky last night and again this morning, and if you intend to get lucky tonight, you’ll be taking Jesse off my hands.”
“Really, now?” Nate grins, rising from the seat with me in his arms bridal style.
“Uh huh,” I laugh, looping my arms around his neck, assuming the talk of getting lucky has inspired him to do just that.
“You know,” he tells me, walking back towards the girls with a dangerous sparkle in his eye. One that I’ve realized caused a rush of adrenaline to pulse through my system. “I don’t take well to threats.”
“Huh?” I grunt, my brows pulling down as I try to figure out where he’s going with this.
“You’ve got one chance, babe,” he warns me. “Take it back.”
I grin up at him. “Or what?” I challenge.
“You asked for it.”
Not a second later, Nate rears back and throws me from his arms. I squeal out as I hurtle towards the pool. I clench my eyes and try to stop squealing so I can take a deep breath. I haven’t even hit the water yet, but one thing is repeating itself over and over again in my head…
Nate Ryder is going down.
With that last final thought, my body crashes down into the cold water before I push myself to the surface, flailing around as I try to get to the side.
I look up to find the monster responsible and grin as I see his back in the distance, hauling ass to get out of here.
Just as I know deep in my bones that I will get revenge for this, Nate Ryder knows it even better.
That swamp turd better run, because I’m coming for him.
