I gather her hands above her head, holding them with one hand and cupping her jaw with the other so that our eyes meet.

“You and me, Angel. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, but it’s you and me. Together. And if this is all we have, then I’m spending the rest of my life with the woman I want by my side until the end. I love you, Maggie.”

Her eyes shine with tears, but her voice is strong. “I love you too, Shane. Tomorrow is tomorrow. You said you were anchoring me to this moment, but I need you here with me. Right now, just be here with me. My man. Forever.”

I look over her body, my marks visible along her neck, her chest and tits, her hips, and though I can’t see them, I know she’s claimed on her thighs and above her mound too. “You are mine, always.”

Maggie smiles, nodding and biting her lip. “Yours. And you’re mine too.”

I thrust into her, harder and more powerfully, my strokes getting rougher as I demand more and more from her small body, but she takes me, fiercer than I’d ever imagined my Angel to be.

Our eyes stay locked the whole time, never leaving each other for a moment, even as we both come hard. We don’t even cry out. The whole time, we’re nearly silent as our eyes say everything that needs to be said, the only sound the rush of our breath and the slap of our hips.

My cum creams out of her as I pull out and we collapse in each other’s arms. Maggie curls against me, falling asleep fitfully in my arms, but I stay on alert.

I’m dreading tomorrow’s meeting, knowing it’s potentially a suicide mission. But I’m hoping that we can make Dominick see reason.

Chapter 21

Maggie

Even after an entire morning of Shane’s constant coaching about what to do in every possible scenario he foresees for the meeting, I’m still nervous. Noon comes faster than I expected, and my stomach is grumbling as I sit in the passenger seat and watch the streets. “I should have eaten.”

“I offered,” Shane reminds me. “Nothing better to start your day than frozen breakfast sandwiches.”

I laugh, looking over. He’s wearing just a tank top, the bright white of the bandage over the taut skin of his arm taunting me. It really was just a nick, didn’t even need stitches or glue, but still . . . it’s a bullet wound. I nod, “I know, I know.”

Shane chuckles and flexes his arm. “You know what I want to do when we get some normalcy again?” he remarks. “I want to go to the gym again. Gotta stay in shape. You wear me out.”

I smile, knowing he’s just trying to relax me. “I could be enticed into watching you get your buff on.”

Our conversation tapers off as we drive up and down the street three times before Shane pulls the old blue truck up outside Petal’s front door.

He does a full scan, and then with one last quick kiss, we get out and approach cautiously. Shane knocks twice on the door, and it opens a crack, Nick peeking out. He looks wary and confused at the same time, like he shouldn’t be this concerned about people he knows.

“Shane? Meghan? You alone?”

Shane nods “Yeah, Nick. Alone and unarmed. You know Dom’s got three cameras on us right now. It’d be stupid not to be. Allie here?”

The door swings open wider, and I can see Allie, her face a mask of confused fear, but when she sees me, she squeals and runs for me. Her long arms surround me in a tight hug even as she starts demanding answers. “What the fuck is going on?”

Her hug has pulled me away from Shane a step or two, and with a quick jerk, he pulls me back to his side and out of Allie’s reach. Allie’s jaw drops in surprise at his move, and then she narrows her eyes, taking in the visible marks along my neck and the upper swells of my breasts. “Ooh, it’s like that?”

She’s teasing, giving me a thumbs-up, and I almost even feel like smiling. Until I realize Nick is leering at me like he never has before.

Before he can say anything, though, Shane steps between us, blocking his view. “Nick, we need to see Dominick. Now.”

Nick nods once, moving to pat down Shane, looking a little embarrassed by it. “Protocol, man.”

Shane allows it but barely manages to hold himself in check as Nick does a more thorough check on me, like I’d be hiding a gun in these shorts. I knock Nick’s hands away when he gets a little high on the inner thigh, though. “I’m clear and you know it, pervert. This ain’t the airport, and I’m pretty sure that ‘don’t touch’ rule still applies.”
