Sweet Nothings – Sweet Enough to Eat - Page 6

“These really are pretty, I love them,” Kinsley says to me as she walks the vase of flowers over to the coffee table.

“I’m glad you like them,” when she comes back towards me, I can’t stop myself. I bring her into my arms and hold her. Needing to feel her in the shelter of my arms.

Kinsley sinks into me, letting me hold her, even for just a few brief seconds.

She pulls back, “I’m not a very good host, I should have asked if you’d like anything while I was working on the flowers.”

“It’s okay, maybe next time?” I reply.

“Definitely, let me grab my purse and we can leave,” I watch her walk away. Those damn jeans are going to be the death of me.

Dinner was amazing, I’m pretty sure I gorged myself with all the sushi Luke and I ordered. It was the best night ever, the best part though, it was falling asleep in his arms on the couch, where we still are now. I slept on his chest, his heart lulled me to sleep, more than the food and the movie we put on when we got back here.

Luke’s breathing tells me he’s still in a deep sleep. I take this as my opportunity to watch him and catalogue every feature he has. His hair is a deep chestnut brown, not a gray hair in sight, he has a couple of wrinkles around his eyes, even in sleep. His lips that I was lucky enough to feel against my own last night, are soft. The five o’clock shadow that’s now on his face only adds to how handsome Luke is.

Attempting to be quiet and not make too much noise, I slowly crawl off of him. “Umph,” I let out as I’m pulled back down on his warm body.

“Where are you going?” Luke asks, his voice husky from sleep.

“Good morning, to the bathroom, and to put on a pot of coffee.” He allows me to get up this time, but before he does, he plants a soft kiss on my lips, and then I get up to do what I need to. While I’m taking care of things in the bathroom, my brain is wondering if he’ll stay for breakfast or if he’ll have to leave soon. Today is my lucky day, I don’t have to be at the coffee shop at all. I’m usually there no matter what, but with Luke in my living room, I want to be with him more. I wash my hands and then make my way to the kitchen.

Luke is still lying on my couch, it looks like he’s fallen asleep. Veering off to the kitchen, I start my Smeg retro coffee maker, it was my one splurge. Everything else you find around my house are things I’ve picked up along the way at antique stores, flea markets, and even garage sales.

I’m reaching up to pull down the coffee mugs from the shelf when two hands wrap around my waist, my body does a full body shiver, rocking back into Luke.

“Good morning, let me help?” he questions.

“Sure, can you grab the creamer out of the fridge?”

“You got it, want to grab something for breakfast or eat here?” I guess that answers my question.

“We can eat here, that way we both don’t have to wait on one another. I have all the ingredients for Belgian waffles and bacon, is that okay?”

“Hell yeah it is, let me have this cup of coffee, and I’ll help you get things started,” he brings his cup of black coffee to his lips. I cringe inside not understanding how people can drink bean water.

“You enjoy your black coffee, I’ll doctor mine up and have some creamer with my coffee,” we laugh together. That’s how we spend the rest of our morning.

When he has to leave, it’s with a lingering kiss, and a promise to come back for dinner. This time he’ll bring something over and cook for me. Even though, he helped me with breakfast.

I left her with a kiss and a promise to come back, wanting her at my place tonight for dinner, but not offering. She wakes up earlier than I do for the coffee shop, so I figure I’ll stay until her eyes are rolling in the back of her head. Sadly, it won’t be from my mouth, fingers, or cock.

Walking into my house, I see the starkness about it, there’s only a handful of pictures of my parents and me. The walls are still the white they were painted when I bought this place, the furniture is sparse, with just the bare necessities.

This house may be bigger than Kinsley’s home, but it’s lacking that sense of cozy, home feeling. Even, my mother would be appalled if she saw this place.

My parents split up when I hit college, and with that mom moved far away from my father, not that I blame her. He worked more than he saw either one of us, I think it built up a resentment with all of us. Growing up he’d miss sports, school awards, me being sick. Hell, mom would be sick, and she still wouldn’t miss a single thing for me.
