Chapter Three
Beau
I had to get out of there before I did something crazy like lift her sexy ass onto the kitchen counter and rip those teasingly tight pants from her body. I could have sworn I saw the outline of her pussy lips from the tightness of her pants. Back in my truck, I don’t really want to go to my shitty apartment, so I head straight for my sister’s place. She lives in the guest house next to the pool behind our parent’s place. It’s ten at night, but the light is still on in the window. I knock before walking in.
“Hey, Beau. What are you doing here? I wasn’t expecting you,” Émmeline says laughing before pulling me into a hug.
“I didn’t wake you, did I?” We sit on her adorably ugly teal couch.
“Oh, no. I was just doodling.” She says tossing her sketchbook on the coffee table. She also turns down the Real Housewives of Baton Rouge episode that she’s watching. My mom loves this show. That’s the only reason why I even know what it is.
Her “doodles” are amazing. She has always sold herself short. She is an excellent designer, but she refuses to submit her designs anywhere.
“Em, when are you going to submit these to someone who can make them?” I ask her looking at her latest creation. It appears to be a feather lined robe. The thing about Em is that she makes clothes for any body type.
“Oh, Beau. Hush with that. You know I just do this for fun. Besides, it’s not a career.”
“And being dad’s secretary is?” I ask.
“He needs me, Beau. While you were off living your dreams, I was here with Mom and Dad. Helping them.”
“You could have left too, Em. They would have been fine without you. You can’t be the martyr. What is your dream?” She rolls her eyes at martyr. I missed her while I was away. I missed my parents too, but Em and I were as close as twins, though I am seven years older than she is.
“See that’s the difference between us, Beau. I couldn’t leave them. Besides, all I have ever wanted is my own family. I want a husband who loves me despite my imperfections and babies. I need babies.”
“That’s your dream?”
“That’s my dream. What are you doing here so late anyway?”
“I went over to take a look at the faucet in the rental.”
“Oh, so you met Elly?”
“Ah, yes. Eleanor is something else.”
“Isn’t she? I just love her; she is the nicest girl I’ve ever met.”
“I agree. Speaking of, do you have her paperwork, the background check, all of it.”
“Yeah, I do. Why do you need it all of a sudden?” she asks, raising her eyebrows.
“I just want to look it over,” I say as nonchalantly as possible.
“Uh-huh.” She doesn’t look convinced.
“Alright, fine. I like her.”
“Like her, like her?”
“What is this, sixth grade?” I ask, chuckling.
“It could be. Now answer the question.”
“Fine. I like her, like her. Are you happy now? I am effectively twelve years old now.”
“So happy,” she says getting up from the couch. At her desk, she opens the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet and pulls out a manilla folder. “Here you go.” She hands me the folder and I flip through it. “You hungry? I can make you something.”
“Nah. Eleanor fixed Cajun pasta for dinner.”
“Your favorite?”
“I know that’s what I was thinking too,” I murmur reading over her background check. My private investigator was very thorough. I know it’s extreme for a rental property, but I had heard horror stories from my teammates. Tenants can be the grossest, most criminal beings on the planet. Based on this report, Em didn’t charge Eleanor a security deposit and she’s charging four hundred dollars less than the previous tenants. Good thing, I trust her to make that decision.

Never been married; no children; no evidence of a boyfriend has been located. No social media presence, except for her business.
The first thing that stands out to me is the name of her boutique, Palais de Plaisance. Palace of pleasure? What the hell does my girl do for a living? The second thing is the fact that she seems to have a lead foot. The last and the most important thing is that she’s never been married and doesn’t have a boyfriend. Thank fuck. She’s mine.
