On the Surface (Imperfect Love 3) - Page 81

Instead, I take the couple feet toward him and wrap my arms around his neck. His arms encircle my waist as I run my tongue across his lower lip, then his top one, teasing him. He groans, pulls me closer to him, and kisses me hard. His tongue massages mine, and I lift his shirt, sliding my palms over his abs. His skin is hot, and I crave his warmth. His hands glide down my back, landing on my ass. He lifts me into his arms, then carefully brings us both down to the grass. Hovering above me, with his arms on either side of my head, Jase and I make out like horny teenagers, his body grinding against mine, until we hear Skyla calling out our names. Quickly rolling off me, Jase stays lying down, his arm propping himself up, while I sit up and adjust my clothes.

“I’ve been looking everywhere for you guys,” Skyla says. “Can we do cake and presents?”

“Sorry,” I say, giving her a smile, while praying she didn’t see her dad practically dry humping me in the grass. Jase stands first, and reaches down to help me up. “Yeah, we can do cake and presents.” I stand and wipe the grass off my backside.

“Cool! You can go back to making out now.” She winks and runs back over to where everyone is. With my hand in Jase’s, we follow behind her. I think maybe Jase forgot about what he asked me when he walked over, until he leans in and whispers, “I know you were upset about something, and while that distraction was nice, I will ask you again later, and you will answer me.”

The rest of the evening runs smoothly, and luckily, we’re so busy with our friends and family that Jase doesn’t find the time to ask me again what’s wrong. We do cake, watch while Olivia and Giselle open their baby gifts, and Nick announces that he’s been signed by a publishing company for the romance novel he wrote, based on Olivia and his love story.

At nine o’clock, we all make our way down by the river to watch the fireworks. Jase holds me in his arms while the bright colors shoot off, creating beautiful designs. And while I should be enjoying this moment, a small piece of me is wondering if every memory we’re creating is only another weight being added to the reality that’s going to drop right on top of us and knock us out of this fantasy we’re currently living in.

“It’s so beautiful out here!” I spread my arms out wide so I can feel the cool breeze against the front of my body. I’m currently standing on the front deck of a seventy-five foot luxury yacht as we enter the Atlantic Ocean. Killian and Giselle, Nick and Olivia, and Jax and some woman—Kirsten—he met at a bar the other night are all on board as well. I’m not sure where everyone else is, but what I do know is that Jase is currently standing directly behind me, with his arms wrapped around my naked torso and his chin resting on my shoulder. I can feel his bulge pressing into my ass, and it has me wanting to find one of the empty rooms on this boat and put it to good use.

“Not as beautiful as you are,” Jase murmurs into my ear. I can’t help the giggle that escapes my lips, remembering the last time he spouted a cheesy-ass line to me, ended with me losing my virginity to him.

“Smooth,” I say through my laughter.

“It’s the truth. The second you took off your bathing suit cover and turned around, my dick went hard.” His hands glide down my sides and land on my nearly bare ass. “Please tell me you only wear this tiny fucking bikini in private,” he says, squeezing a handful of each cheek. “Your sexy ass is hanging out for all the world to see.”

“It’s the style,” I say by way of explanation. “They’re called Brazilian bottoms.”

“Well, I’m not sure I like everyone getting to see what’s mine,” he growls, and the sound of his voice has my thighs clenching.

“Okay, caveman,” I say with a grin plastered on my face. I’ve never had a guy get jealous or possessive before, and it’s definitely a turn on. Schooling my features, I turn around so my back is pressed against the railing and my chest is pressed against Jase’s. “Next, are you going to tell me you want me to quit my job and spend my days barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen?” When Jase’s eyes light up, clearly more than okay with that image, I laugh nervously at my slip up. It’s a typical cliché joke that everyone makes, but my making it can lead to a conversation about babies, and that’s the last thing I want to discuss with Jase. It’s been almost two weeks since the Fourth of July. I told myself that if he brought up my being upset, I would be honest, but luckily, he hasn’t, so I’m pretty sure I’m in the clear.
