For me, you do.
Next, I see an email from the temp agency saying that my assignment has been changed. I need to quit.
Bastard.
Not the way you talk to your new boss. Goodnight Addison. Get back to sleep.
Wait, how did you know I was up? Shit, I slap my hand to my forehead. How stupid.
My phone rings. It’s his number that he doesn’t know I have stored as Baby Daddy, but I’m changing it. “Did you just ask that? I’m not sure it was smart to hire you.” His gruff, sleepy voice makes me picture him lying in bed, shirtless. Maybe some boxers or sleep pants on. God, I can’t handle the image if he’s one of those guys who sleep buck naked.
“It wasn’t, but it’s three in the morning. My brain is fuzzy. Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”
“I would have been if someone didn’t wake me up.” I checked the text, and it’s from nine right after I fell asleep.
“Shit, I’m sorry. My stupid phone buzzed, so I thought it was new.”
“Get some sleep, Addison. I don’t want you falling asleep while getting my coffee.”
“Goodbye.” I hang up, and sleep seems impossible. It’s going to be a very long day. I pick up my notepad and start looking at the guest list. I don’t know if he has a plus one. I’m going to ask when I get to work. I’m not going to let him get the best of me unless it includes him balls deep inside me.
Chapter 3
Tanner
I smile as I wait for her to come in. My security alerted me that she’s on her way up. I sit in my office with my hands behind my head. Grace doesn’t understand why I need a personal assistant and thinks she’s being replaced. I have no intention of keeping Addison permanently. After the wedding, the only work she’ll be doing is on my cock.
The elevator pings, and I sit straight up. “Mr. Bryant said to go straight into his office.”
She walks in, and I can see she had just a shitty time as I did falling asleep, but her makeup is perfect. She doesn’t need any, but I love the pouty red lips. “Mr. Bryant. I’m Addison Reynolds.” Not for long.
“It’s a pleasure. Take off your coat and hang it over there. She opens my closet and gasps.
“We are so not going to get along.” Maybe not, but we’re going to have fun doing it. “Are you always this neat? Or does that girl with the goo-goo eyes handle your cleaning up?”
It never dawned on me that Grace was attracted to me. We’re about the same age, so I guess it’s possible. I wouldn’t know the first thing about women except how cruel they can be. “Do you think she likes me?”
“Are you serious? I know Emmitt said you were focused, but she’s hard to miss. She’s threatened by me.”
“That’s because she thinks you’re here to take her job.”
“Am I?” She raises her brow and twists her head to the side. Damn, I am sending myself to hell. What happened to the leveled headed man I’d been yesterday before she entered my world?
I take a calming breath and try to relax my permanent hard-on. “No. You see this? This is what you did yesterday with your performance.” I spin my laptop toward her. “So I thought it would be a wonderful punishment to have you work alongside me to make it up.”
“I don’t have time for a full time gig.”
“Why? Do you have a boyfriend?”
“Not yet, but I have a lot of wedding planning to do.”
“Well, you have lunches and breaks.”
She grumbles and so I ask, “What did you say?”
“It’s just a pleasure to work for you.”
“Bite that tongue, Addison.” Or I’ll do it for you and so much more.
“So what would you like me to do?”
“I need a cup of coffee.”
“Seriously, you hired me to be your coffee girl.”
“Someone kept me up last night. I have a meeting in ten minutes, so please get the coffee. Black, two sugars.”
“Only psychos drink their coffee black.”
“Your mouth,” I warn her. She has no idea the little jabs turn me on so bad.
“Where is the kitchen area?”
“My coffee pot is over there.” I point to the Keurig next to the opposite wall and sitting area.
She tries to discreetly roll her eyes, but I can see her reflection in the glass from my cabinet. I want to bend her over my desk and spank her. Fuck, I thought if she hated me that much that it would be punishment, but I’m the one suffering.
Addison calmly walks over to me and sets the cup on a coaster on my desk. “You know I’m sorry about the computer. I’ve closed computers before, but I’ve never broken it that way.”
“There was a pen on it.”
“Oh my. I hope you didn’t lose any work.”
