We ended up falling asleep together. I had her pulled against my stomach with my arms around her and felt secure and comfortable this way. I’d never slept with a woman after sex. I always made them leave. We each stirred a few times and woke up together at five in the morning. Rosie turned to face me and pressed her lips to my chest as I pulled her closer.

“What time is it?” She asked softly as I glanced at the clock by the bed.

“Just past five.” I replied as she sighed.

“I guess it’s obvious I’m not coming back tonight. I’ve never done that before. Neither has she…” Rosie spoke softly as I raised an eyebrow.

“Violet sleeps in the dorm every night?”

“She comes back at some point during the night. No sleepovers.” Rosie spoke quietly, and I realized that was my rule.

“That usually isn’t me,” I said as I realized I admitted to sleeping with other girls in that simple statement. I wanted to take it all back, but I couldn’t.

“Should I apologize for falling asleep?” Rosie asked as I felt her breath against my skin.

“No. I like this,” I told her, feeling her kiss my skin again. I felt my body react and stroked her hair as she made her way up to my mouth. We kissed slowly, and I pushed her to her back and reached for a condom. I’d never been with a woman when it was still dark in the morning before. I rolled it over myself after tearing the packet open and slid inside of her, welcoming the heat. I moved slowly, knowing that it was perfect for this moment. She rocked with me and gripped my neck as our bodies met in slow, deep thrusts. We came together, and I rolled away from her when it was over, staying on my side next to her. We didn’t have class today, and I pulled her against me again. “Want to sleep some more and then grab some breakfast with me?”

“Yeah. That sounds great.” I kissed her hair and rose to head to the bathroom. I tossed the condom into the trash and went back to bed, taking her sleeping form into my arms. We woke up again at eight and I offered her my shower and a clean sweatshirt that would hide those amazing breasts. I almost threw her right on the bed last night when she walked in that way. She emerged from the bathroom dressed and with her hair braided over her shoulder. I jumped in and rinsed off before dressing in some jeans and another sweatshirt before slipping my feet into my favorite Cons.

We headed to a local diner that was within walking distance and I glanced around the room to see a few friends. They waved at me and I nodded back, asking for a private table. I was still processing our night together and wanted some space. We slipped into the booth and ordered coffee as she smiled awkwardly.

“This is just us, Rosie. I’m not ready to deal with this with my friends right now.” I assured her as she gave me a long look. I realized how that sounded and picked up the menu, turning the pages with a scowl on my face. I didn’t know what to say, and that’s why I didn’t spend the night with girls. I tried to focus on Rosie as my friend, pushing aside the memories of last night from my head. “I am better friends with you than I am with some of the other people in this room, Rosie. I want to just spend this meal with you.”

“Okay,” she agreed as she picked up her own menu. We ordered some food, and she reached into her purse for her phone as it chimed. Rosie looked thoughtful as she sent back a message. I assumed that it was Violet, and Rosie was telling her what she wanted to about the night before. Rosie slipped her phone back into her purse and reached for her steaming coffee, sipping it gratefully.

We chatted about school and other safe topics over breakfast. I don’t think either of us knew what to say about the previous night together. It was complex and more than I ever thought it would be. Rosie started everything last night where I’d been the one to initiate everything in the past. She wanted it so much that she asked me for it. When I paid the bill, she rose and smiled down at me.

“Thanks for the breakfast, Sterling. I have to head back and finish studying.” Her voice was soft, and I stared at her. She was so beautiful but there was a sadness in her eyes as she left the building and turned to go to her room. I didn’t expect her to kiss me goodbye or anything, but she just left. I took her lead and grabbed my coffee to go sit with my friends. I needed to figure this out.
