Her Savage Protector - Page 32

Right now, shit was going down, but on a smaller scale.

“Where are we going? This place is like a huge maze. I’m impressed,” Zion said.

“We are almost there,” I replied.

We rounded a corner and then came to a door. I unlocked the door and we went inside. There I unveiled the room that housed my weapons collection. It held every type of gun I’d ever need, every martial arts weapon, every single explosive device, and then on the other side was a cache of survival canned foods in a pantry.

It was my survival room. Eventually the world would be unlivable and we’d have to protect ourselves and survive for who knew how long. I was ready.

“Wow, I didn’t know you were a doomsday prepper,” Zion said.

“Yeah, we should all be. I don’t think of myself as a prepper; I’m a doomsday survivor.”

“Ok…”

I knew I was creeping her out a bit with all this shit, but she would understand in a moment why I brought her down here.

“Ok, these guys are coming. They are coming here,” I said.

She seemed confused. “I understand you are cautious to think that, but you seem really certain.”

“Yeah, I am. I know they had that drop spot scouted out and they got my license plate before. They followed us here. They will plan their attack in the next day or so. I’m sure of it.”

She was almost shaking now. “Then why did we leave? We could have stayed there where we have police protection. Unless, you wanted them to follow us here…”

I nodded. “That’s right. I did. This is the plan I came up with in case the drop thing didn’t work.”

“So, you used me? You set me up as bait? Just like Al?”

“No. I set us both up as bait. Nothing like Al. This is going to work. It has to. We will make a final stand. They will come for us and we will tear them limb from limb. We have the fire power. We just need to get you ready. I will give you a crash course in tactical weaponry. We don’t have much time.”

“Are you crazy? You brought me here and didn’t ask me if I even wanted to go along with this plan. And you think I can become a marine or something in one day? No. I’ve never shot a gun before in my life. What in the hell were you thinking?”

“I was thinking that this is the game plan. This is the way it has to be.”

She was pacing back and forth now. She was clearly pissed off. She’d have to get the fuck over it.

“God dammit! What in the hell? Did you really think this would be ok with me?”

“We don’t have time for you to be ok with it. This is the situation. You will deal with it.”

She stormed off out of the room. I let her go. I knew she would be angry. She had a right to be, but it didn’t help anything so she needed to get over it. We had training to do. I wasn’t sure I needed her help, but we needed to be prepared. I was certain I could take these guys out quickly alone, but you never knew. Hell, they might bring an entire crew themselves this time. I didn’t know. I had no way of knowing what they had going on.

I walked out of the room and headed down the hallway. I figured that Zion would be upstairs by now trying to call an uber or something, but she was right there at the bottom of the stairs. She was glaring at me, but I could see she had calmed herself down at least a little bit.

I stopped at the bottom of the stairs and didn’t say anything for a while. I needed to let her vent and give her the floor. She looked so beautiful right there. Hell, she looked beautiful everywhere. But in that dim light with those pissed off expressions, I was turned on like crazy. Maybe I just liked pissing her off. That was probably it. There was something wrong with me, possibly. I needed therapy. Yeah, I might look into that one day.

“You bastard,” she said.

“Yeah, I am sometimes.”

“You had better never lie to me again.”

I shrugged. “I hope I never have to.”

She shook her head and I saw the fire in her eyes. “I know why you did it. And you’re right. It is the right choice. But not telling me was wrong.”

“It needed to be more convincing that way. And I wasn’t sure you would even come.”

“Well, you’re right. I probably wouldn’t have, or at least I would have had to think about it. But I don’t like liars.”

“Sometimes lies are inevitable.”

I leaned close to her and looked into her eyes. She looked back. I saw the anger within her slowly starting to dissipate as I leaned in for a slow kiss. Our lips touched and I felt that same old sweet electricity coming from between us.
