Frankie was tempted to try for full custody but he wasn’t sure if Ana would want that.
Ana was adorable. She liked to work on her own paintings next to me while I worked.
Somehow after such a horrible beginning, my story had come to a perfect end. I still couldn’t believe it was my life.
“Are you excited?” Frankie asked stepping behind me. He wrapped his arms around me, our bodies swaying as we stared out at the ocean.
“Yeah,” I said. “And nervous.”
“Why nervous?” Frankie asked.
I shrugged. “It’s just been so long. I know they still feel weird about all of this.”
“Once they see how happy you are, they’ll come around,” Frankie said. He stopped swaying. “You are happy, right?”
I turned my eyes so I could look into his eyes. “Of course, I am. I am so happy. I never thought any of this would be possible. It’s still hard to believe that this is my life.
“Because if you’re not happy and there is something you need or want, I will do it or get it. I will go to the end of the earth for you,” Frankie said.
“I know you would,” I said turned back to the water. The waves in the distance soothed me. “And I would do anything for you.”
“How do you think they’ll take the news?” Frankie asked.
I exhaled. “I honestly don’t know.”
“I was thinking Clara… or how about Gabriela?”
“That’s pretty,” I said. “But we don’t know if she’s a girl.”
“I have a feeling about it.”
“Lorena?” Frankie asked.
I laughed. “They’re all so beautiful. I don’t know how we’ll choose.”
“Maybe we’ll have to try for more,” Frankie said.
“Oh, no I don’t think that’s happening,” I said
“You’ll change your mind,” Frankie said.
I shook my head. He knew I wasn’t young. I was lucky to even have a baby growing in my belly in the first place. I was happy to have him or her but it wasn’t likely there would be more. We’d have to just love the heck out of our child.
And I knew with how great of a father Frankie was with Ana, that I didn’t have anything to worry about.
Everything in my life was perfect and Hope and Tori would see it. They would be happy for me. And I was pretty sure they would both spoil my baby.
I exhaled and relaxed into Frankie. I’d never felt so loved in my entire life. My happiness filled me with so much joy that it felt possible that I might actually explode.
“I love you,” Frankie said.
My insides melted. “I love you too.”
How did I get so lucky? I didn’t care how… I was just going to enjoy it.
Frankie kissed my neck and I closed my eyes. I was living my dream.
