Craving More (Nighthawk Security 2) - Page 9

“Not worried about that. Leo’s going to stop by my place to grab some things for me, then he’ll drop off your car. I’d rather you hear this bit of information from me than Leo running his mouth.” Bridger’s hands are cupping my cheeks. This man, he thinks I don’t know how he operates.

“You mean the fact that you keep a spare set of keys to not only the company car but also my house, or how about that I know there’s GPS on said vehicle and my cell phone?” I see the surprise written all over his face, and I have to say, for once, Bridger is stunned speechless. He should know by now that I’m privy to all of this information. It’s the same for every employee at Nighthawk. I knew the stakes when I joined their team.

“Well, then, since you’re Little Miss Know-It-All, I guess all of my secrets are out.” He tickles my side, causing me to forget about my epic meltdown and instead of crying, I’m laughing so hard I may pee my pants.

“Mercy,” I get up after a few minutes, knowing both of us squirming on the couch will cause us to do something I’m not sure is a good idea. Yet. Not to mention Legend is wanting in on the action.

“Something tells me there are more secrets that you aren’t letting on about.” We are both lying down on the couch, facing one another. Legend got the memo and moved to his dog bed near the fireplace.

“More than likely, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Right now, I want to make sure you’re comfortable around me first.”

“I think it’s safe to say I’m completely and ridiculously okay to be around you, if you haven’t noticed after today? The way my emotions have bounced all over the place and you being able to handle my craziness shows that.”

“True. How about we get up? I’ll order Crave, unless you want Chinese food instead?” Bridger asks.

“Oh, man, let’s do that. Orange chicken with fried rice sounds so good.” I all but salivate at the thought of food now.

“I’ll order that. Does Legend need to eat dinner?”

“Yeah, but not Chinese food, goof. I’ll get him fed, then I’ll text Raelynn to see if she has a cheesecake handy. Do you think Leo will pick it up for us?” I bat my eyes because I know Leo is already doing a lot for Bridger.

“He owes me. He’ll pick it up for us.” Bridger winks at me, then he maneuvers his body so I’m now beneath him. My legs move out of his way, giving him room to place his hips between them, and I swear to all that is holy that I can feel every inch of him even though there are a couple of inches that keep us from completely touching.

My breathing becomes choppy. It’s in this moment I know that I want Bridger’s lips on mine. I’m taking a leap, and I hope Bridger doesn’t let me fall. I lift my head. He understands what I’m asking for, and thank goodness, he doesn’t disappoint.

Our lips meet. It’s not what I expect. I assumed Bridger would take what he wants. Instead, he’s allowing me to take the lead, even if his body is encasing my own. I’m hesitant at first, then I kiss Bridger again. The girl inside of me is screaming in excitement that I’m finally kissing the man who has been plaguing my dreams and every fantasy I’ve ever had.

I moan as he finally takes over, my soft lips against his, the way he brings his tongue into play. It’s light at first until I match him. When he retreats, I chase, and that’s when Bridger takes over. This first kiss is out of this world amazing. I’ve admitted a lot today, but I won’t admit that this kiss is also my first, as in my first-ever kiss.

We slowly pull a part. I’m breathless. Bridger’s is much the same. “Damn, sunshine, had I known you taste this amazing, I probably would have tasted you sooner.”

That makes a soft smile play on my face. “Same,” I respond, then he levels himself up and off the couch, bringing his hand out to help me do the same.

“We’ll have to work on that some more, then,” he replies once I’m standing. I nod my head, wanting that so much. Bridger kisses my cheek before saying, “Make your call, and I’ll make mine. I’ll be on the front porch if you need me.”

“Okay.” My voice comes out like a rubber ducky squeaking. He leaves, and now it’s my turn to watch him walk away. I’m going to need a fan to carry around while I’m around Bridger non-stop, and I have to share a bed with him. Yeah, I can see me having to change my panties several times a day or take cold showers. His body has me fanning my face, and that’s just from the back—his broad shoulders, tapered waist, and that man’s ass. He sure knows how to fill out a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. After he disappears through the front door, only then do I make the call to Raelynn. Knowing her, she’ll have a cheesecake ready. It’s one of my weekly indulgences. It’s also one of the many reasons I do yoga five days a week.
