I held my hand out to her and saw the look of surprise that fell over her face. She blushed and lowered her head before walking over to take my hand and the seat I’d saved next to mine. “I got your salad, baby, eat.” I pushed the rabbit food in front of her and went back to talking to Paul about the game as if that’s what we’d been talking about all along.
I was conscious of my hand along the back of her chair, and so were a few others. My target was a little late today, which was to be expected with the shit storm I’d unleashed on her head, but just as expected, her eyes fell on my table as soon as she walked in. I didn’t look away from her when I leaned in to whisper in Lora’s ear.
“Babe, don’t be alarmed, and don’t freak.” She opened her mouth to say something, but I chose that moment to lower my lips to hers and kiss her in front of everyone. It wasn’t a long drawn out spectacle, just enough to push Sherry over the edge while at the same time sending a clear message to everyone else here that Lora was not my fucking sister, no pun intended.
I pulled back and grinned at the way Lora’s mouth had fallen open and the stupefied look on her face. “Tyler!” She looked around shyly as the whispers and murmurings started. Sherry turned and stormed out of the room, which just shows how skewed her thinking really is.
She didn’t run away or try to escape from the girls she’d violated or the ones she was planning to. But the sight of me kissing my girl had made her tuck tail and run in anger. If she’d stuck around long enough, she would’ve seen my smirk and the glint in my eye at how well I’d played her. Now, all that’s left is the final chapter of this saga, and I can get the hell on with my life. Some people are too easy.
“Hey, have you heard the rumors?” Ms. Lora had got herself together though her cheeks were still red, and she was still not looking at me.
“You talking to me or the lettuce?” She picked her head up and squinted at me. I imagined my kids at the receiving end of that look in the future; it made me grin.
“Now, what were you saying? What rumors?” Now I have a set of rules that came with me at birth. No one taught them to me; they’re just things that seem to be ingrained in me naturally. One of those rules is not to lie to my woman…unless it’s some shit that has nothing to do with her and is for her own good if that makes sense. Like the shit, she’s about to stick her nose into.
She gave me a disbelieving look like she’d already made up her mind that I was a lying piece of shit. Too bad she can’t prove shit. “You really didn’t hear anything about the rumors?”
“Babe, I’m a guy. Guys, don’t pay attention to that shit. Now, what are you talking about?”
“Humph, I don’t see how you didn’t hear because everybody’s been talking about it since we got here this morning.”
“You still haven’t told me what ‘it’ is.” I looked at my untouched plate and grabbed a carrot stick. This was her idea to wean me off of my daily French fry intake.
I have to eat veggies at least twice a week for lunch. Her mom has already got cook to change mine and dad’s diet. He’d only grumbled a little before caving like he does with everything else when it comes to his wife, but I’m still getting used to it. At this rate, I’d only be allowed my beloved foods once a damn month. But hey, she’s happy.
She leaned over with her hand cupping her lips close to my ear and repeated basically everything I’d sent the girls in the anonymous emails. “Seriously? Wow?” I dug into my carrot sticks and frowned at the lump of white cardboard masquerading as a chicken breast. What teen worth his salt eats this shit?
I felt her gaze burning into the side of my face as I dipped another carrot stick into my low fat ranch dressing, which is the only way I can eat this shit. Again the low-fat thing was her idea. I don’t know what she has against food that has any kind of taste, and no way am I eating that nasty ass yogurt I’d put on my tray just to impress her.
“That’s all you have to say? If you had nothing to do with it, why was she so afraid of you the other day?” I shrugged my shoulders and popped another piece of nasty in my mouth. “Beats me, all I did was tell her to leave you alone, or I’d break her neck.”
