Maybe I’d misjudged her. But it sure as hell felt like she wanted me. I saw it in her eyes, in the way her body responded to mine like every touch of my fingertips was a shock to her lithe body.
I knew I’d get to fuck her again. But I didn’t want the guy there with her.
It couldn’t have been more than half an hour later that his car pulled up in front of the building, and the jerk got out.
I stared at him almost racing into the building, and then watched the dark-haired girl exit a while after. She looked fucking messy, her dress all rumpled and her hair a wild halo around her head.
I shouldn’t have done it, but I couldn’t fucking stop myself.
When she crossed the street, I followed her. She didn’t hear me, she had earphones in. Probably thought she was in a nice enough neighborhood to walk around like that, silly bitch.
I made a grab for her just as we were passing an empty alley. She didn’t even get a chance to squeak when my palm covered her mouth and I pulled her into the alley by her waist.
“Shut the fuck up,” I growled at her as she tried to get away. “I’m not going to hurt you. This isn’t about you.”
She wouldn’t stop struggling, and the girl had some fight in her. I lowered my mouth to her ear and nearly fucking lost it.
She had my girl’s smell all over her, and it drove me fucking nuts.
She got to touch her, and I didn’t, and it wasn’t fucking fair.
“This isn’t about you,” I repeated, my words loud in her ear. “It’s about her. Pet, whatever the fuck you call her.”
She stopped struggling, and I let her go, knowing I risked her running off and telling the guy when I did so.
The moment I let her go, she turned around and slapped me hard. I didn’t even fucking flinch, just laughed in her little red face.
“Feisty,” I told her. “Admirable.”
“What the fuck?” she snarled at me, digging in her purse.
“Don’t bother with the pepper spray,” I told her. “No fucking point, cause I don’t want your shit, and I’m not planning on fucking you.”
I gave her a onceover. I hadn’t noticed the last time, but she was quite the looker. Any other time, any other place, and I probably would have been fucking tempted.
“Don’t even think about it,” she warned, her words breathy.
“I won’t if you don’t,” I tossed back, and she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her body. “I want to ask you some stuff.”
“Like what?” she asked. “And why would I tell you anything?”
“Because…” I stared at her. “I think that guy… King. He isn’t good for her.”
She shifted her weight uncomfortably. “What do you mean?”
“I think he’s being weird,” I told her. “Like, hurting her.”
“So?” she laughed in my face. “It’s what she likes, dumbass.”
“Not in that way,” I snarled. “Like, emotionally. Mental damage and all that shit.”
“Big fucking theory you have there,” she told me. “Why would you say that? I remember you, you know.”
“Of course you fucking do.” I grinned at her and she rolled her eyes again. “I knew you liked me. Now, are you gonna talk?”
“At least buy me a damn drink first,” she said.
“Well, if you insist. And stop trying to get in my pants,” I said.
“As if!” Her voice was shocked, but we both knew she had the fucking hots for me.
She pulled her dress down self-consciously, and I smacked her ass as I walked her out of the alley.
“Why’d you pull me in here anyway?” she asked, glaring at me. “You could just come up to me to talk like a normal person.”
“Because I knew you’d like it,” I told her with a shrug.
The girl looked away guiltily, and we walked to a bar in silence, just her heels clattering on the pavement.“He fucked me so good. No one will ever fuck me like that. No one.” She stirred her drink miserably.
While I would have loved proving her wrong, I had other things on my mind. Mostly the girl. Pretty Pet.
“I want to see her again,” I said. “Any way I can do that without going through her jackass of a man?”
“I doubt it,” she told me. “He knows everything she does. Even when she’s out with me, she texts and he calls. He’s controlling, always has been.”
“Sounds like a fucking nutjob to me,” I growled, and she laughed, the sound bitter. “So, can I come with you next time you see her?”
“You?” She stared at me over the rim of her glass. “That’s a bad idea. If he knows you’re sneaking around behind his back, you’ll never get to see her again on his terms.”
“Fine.” I downed my drink and got up to leave.
