Quarantine and Chill - AMBW Standalone Romance - Page 85

“What do you want to do now?”

“Um. . .” She walked out of the bathroom. “Let’s sit down.”

I entered the room and spotted a platter of small dishes—cheeses and meats, fresh crusts of bread and yummy dips. “Who brought this?”

“I ordered them.”

“Lovely.” I went over to make a plate. “You’re already proving to be an excellent wife.”

She gestured to the bed. “Sit down over there. I’ll get the plate.”

“You’re going to serve me, Mrs. Patel?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Hmmm.” I got on the bed. “Be careful. I may expect this every day.”

“Be careful. I may want to do it all the time.”

I chuckled and spotted a small, long box on the nightstand. “Did the staff bring this too?”

Jade walked over with a plate of food. “No. That’s from me to you.”

I quirked my brows. “It is?”

“Yes. Open it.”

“I see you’re going to have me on my toes this whole marriage.”

She sat down next to me and placed the plate on the bed. Worry covered her face.

I paused from removing the paper. “What’s wrong?”

“Open it.” She bit her lip.

“O-kay.” I tore off the paper and lifted the box’s top. A white stick lay inside. I froze in shock.

“So. . .I’m pregnant.”

I dropped the box and tenderly gathered her in my arms. “This was the best news I could have received.”

“Are you sure? I know it’s so soon—”

“What do you think I was trying to do last night? I damn sure hoped to put a baby inside of you.”

She leaned away. “But, Kamal, we’re going to be parents.”

“Yes. Amazing ones.” I kissed her. “And when he or she will ask how we fell in love, we’ll tell a story about a virus that terrorized the globe, and a love that formed from a fearful time.”
