I’m out of breath, and beyond angry. I’m fucking pissed. I let my guard down being out here and look what the fuck happened. Locking the door, I head to where Leona is and she’s still alive, looking at her arm now.

“Did you call an ambulance? Is someone coming?” she cries. I sit on the bed and push hair away from her sweaty face.

“Someone is coming.”

Reaching for my phone again I finally get the change to dial my dad.

“What?” he barks in greeting.

“I have a wounded cat, one mouse down, and…” I stop, something in my gut telling me not to tell him about the guy I have alive.

“And what?” he says, sounding more awake now.

“I need a doctor and clean up,” I state.

“Goddamn it, can you do anything right?” he yells into the line. “Who was it?”

“I can’t tell.” I sigh, angry at his tone of voice.

“I’ll send someone, hold tight.” He curses under his breath before hanging up.

I toss my phone to the floor.

“Your dad, you think your dad is going to save me?” Leona says with doubt.

Looking at her whiskey eyes, cheeks stained from tears, I swallow the uncertainty in my throat. I shouldn’t have come here alone. I should have brought Romeo or even Matteo.

“He better,” I mutter, bending down to grab my phone I text Romeo to come help.

For the first time in my life, I may need my little brother’s help.LeonaWhite searing pain obliterates my arm and senses. I can’t look at it, I can only stare at the wall and curl my toes. Kieran sits close, rubbing my head with a damp cloth, and I try not to whimper too much but it hurts. I feel ill, like I might throw up. I was supposed to sit on the dock and be bored, to have a normal life and now look at me. I’m bleeding out, dying in the arms of my sworn enemy. The smell of blood so strong I can taste it, and feel it everywhere.

A knock in the living-room has him stand. I look to him for the first time since he came back in here and find blood all over his arm and hands. It’s shocking and makes me gasp.

He lays my gun down by my side.

“Use this if you need to, do you understand?” The serious look that crosses his face makes me want to pass out, but I use all my strength and nod.

He leaves the room, pulling a gun from the back of his pants before turning into the hall.

I hear a female voice and curiosity piques my interest. I want to sit up and hear what they’re saying, but I have no energy. I just lay there staring at the door.

A tall beautiful woman enters the room. Her thick chocolate-colored hair pulled up into a messy bun, and a black trench coat on. I blink as I think I see two of her and she presses two fingers to the crook of my neck. Who is she? Can we trust her? I need to go back to New York. I need a hospital.

“She’s lost a lot of blood,” she informs the room, she has an accent but I can’t place it. Maybe she doesn’t have one at all and I’m delusional.

Pulling open a duffel bag, she begins sticking needles into my arm and veins. I open my mouth to ask what she’s doing, but I blackout before I even have the chance to open my mouth.KieranDr. Abriana digs the bullet out from Leona’s arm and stitches it up so it finally stops bleeding.

Taking her gloves off, she digs in her bag and pulls out a kit.

“Here, test your blood,” she orders. Pulling out a needle and plastic piece, I do as the instructions say. I clean my finger, prick it, and apply it to the designated area.

She takes it and observes it.

“You and Leona are the same blood type, you should give her some of your blood, it will help.” She begins pulling out tubes and needles and my eyes widen with the information.

“What’s our blood type?”

She looks up, dark brown eyes sizing me up.

“A-positive.”

I nod and hold my arm out. “If it helps, do it.”

“There’s a chance her body could reject your blood, this could kill her,” she informs, but it doesn’t stop her from pulling out the biggest needle I’ve ever seen, along with a thick tube.

We can’t go to the hospital, they’ll ask questions. Whoever came may have someone stalking the emergency room. It’s not safe, this is our best chance.

“I said do it,” I growl, knowing every second that passes Leona is closer to dying.

She sticks me with that fucking needle and I focus on Leona. Did I do this to her, or did her family? Within minutes, she has blood entering Leona’s veins. My blood. Sitting in a chair, I watch her sleep and can’t help but wonder if my DNA mixing with hers will make her different. It’s a stupid notion really, but what if the immoral darkness that thrives within me is in my blood. Which is now in her.
