Fireball (Cheap Thrills 1)

“Fireball, your ass is there,” he pointed where I was sitting, “and it should be here,” he finished, pointing at his lap.
This was a new one, and it confused me for a second. “You want me to sit on your lap?”
“Yes.”
“And not the chair?” I clarified.
Rolling his eyes, he huffed, “Yes.”
With a sigh, I got up and walked over to where he’d pointed and sat down. It was his own damn fault if he couldn’t walk after it. A quick look at the screen of his computer didn’t help me figure out what was bothering him into needing me to sit like this because all that I saw was a document with a lot of words in it. “Wanna explain what this is about?”
Leaning his head back and stretching his neck, I watched as his throat moved when he swallowed. “They’re thinking of lessening the charges against Rita, meaning she’d only serve a maximum of eighteen months in prison.”
Out of everything in the world that he could have said, this wasn’t what I’d expected, ever. “What?”
Bringing his head back up again, he pulled me closer to him and repeated it. “I just got that through from the DA. Apparently, because she helped with the divorce scam, they’re considering dropping the charges against her. He wants me to get impact statements from you and Jose, and to outline why I feel she shouldn’t get this deal from them.”
Irrational Tabitha wanted to scream no and beg him to get them not to do it – we all had a bit of an irrational Tabitha inside us. Thankfully though, the rational adult Tabitha reigned supreme and took control. “Ok, we can do that. When do you need it by?”
“Wednesday,” he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut. “I didn’t see this coming, and I’m not gonna lie I’m worried what she’ll do if she gets out.”
Seeing him like this made rational adult Tabitha’s brain work wonders apparently, because an idea hit me. “We can get the footage from the security cameras so he can see all of it from that night. Me and Jose will do ours, you do yours, then we’ll send all of it. Once he sees her and hears what she said in our statements, he won’t drop the charges. Heck, Ellis was there so he can give his too.”
His eyes sharpened on my face as I laid out my grand plan. “I didn’t think of the footage, Larry and Raoul’s is admissible for this too. God damn it, why didn’t I think of that?”
“Because you’re busy fighting crime like a superhero and can’t be expected to do everything?” I offered, grinning as I rubbed on the spot between his eyebrows with my thumb.
Chuckling, he pulled me into him so that our faces were only an inch apart. “You’re the shit, fireball. I’ve been thinking about that damn email since I opened it an hour ago, and you come up with the solution in a matter of minutes.”
“Maybe I should come and work for you? We can take breaks together and then you can bend me over your desk and show me all fifty states.”
I got to watch up close as he burst out laughing, something which never failed to amaze me in its beauty. “Bend you over my desk and show you all fifty states?”
“Yeah, you know – paddling up the coochie creek or doing the lust and thrust,” I pressed.
“Stop,” he wheezed, moving a hand off me to hold his side. “Where the hell do you and your sister come up with this shit? She had words like that for it too.”
“You’ve never heard it called that before?”
“Fuck no,” he chuckled, shaking his head. “But now that I have, there’s no forgetting it.” Pulling me back into him he gave me a soft kiss on the lips. “Thank you for making this easier to figure out, Tabby.” I was about to reply, but the smile dropped from his face as he looked over my shoulder. “But now we’ve got a problem. A huge problem.”
“What’s that?” I asked confused and braced for his response.
“Well, now I want to fuck you on my desk,” he growled, standing up suddenly and placing my ass on the edge.
Looking around the room for cameras, hell if I know if they put them in these places, I whispered, “Don’t you have people watching and listening in here?”
“Hell no,” he muttered, lifting me up slightly to remove the white shorts I was wearing from under me. When he’d undone the fly I didn’t know, the man had wizard hands.
“What about the people outside?” I pressed, aware that not far away there was a whole station of people and criminals, including the woman who hated my guts.
Leaning over me so I had no option but to lie down on his desk, he whispered against my lips, “I’ll just have to make sure you’re quiet.”
