Not that I was judging by any standard, but a man of Levi’s size walking with two miniature Daschunds? I couldn’t wait to see it. I still hadn’t recovered from seeing Madix walking Baileys last week. The little dog had stopped after a couple of minutes and yapped until he walked back, picked it up, and put it on his shoulder.
If Levi had to do that with his new babies… actually, I think my ovaries would explode.
Between the tree of us, Levi’s Christmas presents were all bought, and the puppy stuff was on overnight order. I was nervous but excited about getting him the puppies, but he’d done so much for me that I wanted to give him something back.
As the girls were leaving and Jamie whining to get back to her Uncle Levi, Ariana threw over her shoulder, “Oh, by the way, Rich wanted to know if you could record the automated messages on the company’s system. He says if people call and hear your voice, Townsend Oil will be a world famous entity.”
“Tell that little bitch to shove it up his ass,” Levi snapped, smiling apologetically at Jamie.
Unable to resist adding one last dig, she chuckled, “If you think that’s bad, wait until the cousins get here.”
I kept hearing them saying things like this, and I still didn’t understand what was wrong with the cousins?Four hours later…
When Levi had suggested that we watch a movie, I’d thought he’d want to watch something like an action film or maybe even a comedy.
He’d taken the cushions off the couch in the den and surprised me by pulling a bar that brought out a bed. Before I could lie down on it, though, he’d made me sit in the recliner while he brought through bedding, made the bed up, picked up the popcorn and snacks he’d put on the side in the kitchen, and had then lit some candles around the room. I’d been so caught up in watching it all that I hadn’t seen him walking toward me until he was lifting me out of the chair and pulling my shirt over my head.
This led us to now, lying on the bed in our underwear with a thick, warm duvet over us. I was closest to the television with him behind me, which meant I had a closeup of the action on the screen.
Not that he’d chosen an action film. No, what he’d actually chosen was Sliver, which was basically soft porn. I hadn’t seen the movie before, but I’d heard about it for sure.
His hand was in my panties as he dipped his finger in and out of me. “We need to get you an appointment with a doctor,” he muttered.
Arching my back slightly, I reached over my head to bring his mouth closer to mine. “Why?”
With his lips skimming mine, he whispered, “I want to take you without a rubber.”
This made my hand spasm where it was holding the back of his neck. In my mind, there were different levels in a relationship.
We’d spent so much time together as friends trying to work through my stupid bucket list that we’d had a good foundation by the time our relationship changed from friends to lovers.
Obviously sex was a very personal thing, at least to me it was considering he was the only person I’d done it with. And also obviously, I knew we were in a relationship together, there was no doubting that, but we’d never discussed it and having sex without a condom… it was a big step.
Raising his head to look down at me, he frowned. “You don’t want that?”
Turning so that I was lying on my back, I tried to think of how best to say what I was thinking. It was slightly awkward considering where his hand was at that moment, but I wasn’t about to add another level of awkwardness to the occasion by pointing that out.
“I know I don’t have a lot of experience with relationships,” I began, chewing on my lower lip, “but we’ve never discussed that before.”
Jerking back slightly, he moved his hand out of my panties and rested it on top of them instead. “Having sex without a rubber?”
Sighing, I rubbed my face with my hands, I was tempted to just leave them over it while I said the rest, so I did. “I get that we’re in a relationship, but sex without a condom… it’s a different depth of relationship.”
“Depth of relationship?” he repeated, sounding confused.
Peeking through the fingers of one hand I realized he was genuinely confused by it.
“Ok, so I’m about to make things very awkward then,” I mumbled, wishing I’d just agreed to see Parker for the damned appointment. “What we have is a relationship, I get that.”
“That’s a relief.”
“But what I’m saying is, not using a condom is a totally different type of… relationship,” I cringed when I said the last word. I was totally screwing this up.
