Sports teams from all over the world have been sending in donations for the foundation set up by Liberty’s family at her request shortly before she died to help leukemia sufferers and victims and their families.
In a last letter written by Miss Echo, she requested that ten per cent of funds raised should be donated to the Seattle Children’s Hospital for upgrades and ‘whatever cool stuff they can get for sick kids’.
Seattle Whispers Magazine will be donating $25,000 to the charity. Cam LaValle has also donated the $20,000 he got for his part in the article about Ashley Wilkes to the charity.EpilogueAshley“So, that article last week was a shock,” Meg muttered as we watched our men warm up on the field.
“Mmhmm,” I replied, distracted by the beauty of my man stretching his legs out. The pants of his uniform fit him just right, and when he bent over, I could see the outline of his…
“Control yourself,” she hissed, nudging me with her sharp elbow right in the ribs.
“Sorry. You’ve got to admit that those pants do crazy things to them.”
“Your dad’s wearing the same thing,” she pointed out, making me gag and erasing whatever dirty thoughts had been running through my head. “Anyway, back to the article.”
Seattle Whispers had printed an exclusive with Missy the week before.
Until then, she’d been sticking to her story and had insisted that I was a dirty little boyfriend stealing slut, until man after man had come forward to tell about how she’d been sleeping with them since September last year—before she’d broken up with Kip.
With proof flying around social media, she had no choice but to think twice about her being the hurt party.
See, Missy’s dad was the owner of a car dealership which dealt with the importation of luxury vehicles and boasted a long list of celebrity customers. With the shame that her insistence brought, he began to lose those customers, so he withdrew his financial support and made it common knowledge that things weren’t copacetic between them in order to save face.
With none of daddy’s money, none of his influence, her hairdresser and all of the other more prestigious hair salons refusing to tend to her locks, the doors of her exclusive designers closed to her and people treating her like she was an infectious disease, the men she’d normally use as back up financially no longer around, she finally gave in and admitted she was a big old liar, liar, pants on fire.
She also got paid $5,000 for the story, every penny of it being donated to the new Liberty Foundation.
As for Cam, he was now in the UK, hoping to sign with a soccer team called Arsenal. He’d also signed an agreement with an agent that he wouldn’t bring any drama to any club he was signed to or the deal. Oh, and he’d also given half of his sign-up bonus to the charity.
He was out of my life, and out of Seattle.
“Camber, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, contacted us to say she was delivering a copy of something to us the night before they printed it, but we weren’t allowed to discuss it with anyone, so we were semi-aware that it was happening,” I admitted, picking at a ragged piece of nail on my thumb.
All of the other WAGs were immaculate and looked like they weren’t sitting in the sun and sweltering heat… and then there was me.
“Was that how you did that?” Raine, Stan’s new girlfriend, asked from her seat beside mine, nodding at the big blue burden on my left leg.
Yes, I’d injured myself again.
“No,” I sighed, fighting against pulling the threads that kept coming loose from the Velcro straps that were around the brace keeping my leg straight. “The alarm went off in Hayden’s house on Monday as I was walking down the stairs, and it scared the hell out of me. I missed the step I was taking and boom.”
After Cam had retracted his allegations and lies, making it clear that we’d broken up long before I’d even met Kip and had never once shown any interest in swinging, the security system had been completed at Hayden’s house and I’d moved home. My family were scared that I’d be the focus of a crazy psycho after what Cam had said, so they went a bit over the top with the new security and making sure it was armed.
Things had been great between me and Kip, but I wanted to spend time making the relationship stronger, and living together so early on in it didn’t feel right. He’d been against the idea, but when I pointed out I was only next door, he’d given in and begrudgingly accepted it.
That’s not to say that we really spent any time apart. During the day we’d go about our lives, going to work and doing what needed to be done. But nights were spent together, even if we were just cuddling.
