“Only so you didn’t have to go through it alone.” He frowns at me. “Should we talk? I should probably change, anyway.” He grins.
I cringe yet again, and then I nod, letting him lead me away.
“Let’s talk.”I wash my face, use some mouthwash, and then curl up on the bed while I wait for Liam. Every time I think about what happened, I want to die. I threw up on him in the middle of his proposal. I’m never going to live this down. How many people got that on video? Maybe I can release a compilation CD of embarrassing moments, Becca style.
I look up as Liam walks out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel. I shiver, because God, he’s so sexy. He walks over to me and crouches down, his hands resting on my knees. He chuckles and I manage a smile, despite the fact that I don’t want to smile. I sit up and look down at him.
“Will you stop beating yourself up?” He chuckles. “If you ever had a legitimate reason to puke on someone…”
I laugh. I guess he has a point.
“So,” he adds. “Where are you at?”
I shrug. “There are tons of reasons why the timing is wrong. Your job, my school, we’ve just moved…”
“But?”
I shrug and run my hand over my stomach. Then I look up at him.
“I think I want this. No,” I say, correcting myself. “I know I want this. It’s funny even just over these few weeks, I’ve bonded with this little person.” I look at him uncertainly, my heart pounding. “Where are you at?”
His fingers trail over my arm as he smiles at me. “I think I love the sound of it being you, me, and this little one.”
He stands up and puts out his hands. I take them, sighing as he pulls me to my feet and wraps his arms around me.
“But you haven’t answered my question,” he reminds me. “Will you marry me?”
I laugh. “Yes. I will.”
He cradles my face and places his mouth against mine, his kiss soft and tender. I smile as we kiss, the future not only terrifying, but exciting too.
We’re doing this. We’re really doing this.
“I’m impressed that you got everyone here to see this and I didn’t suspect a thing,” I admit.
He laughs. “You can thank your mother for offering herself up as a sacrifice. She said if you saw her dancing, then I wouldn’t need to do anything other than follow you down there and wait for you to turn around.”
I laugh, my face going hot. “I was pretty angry, huh?” I smile at him. “And good work getting Grammy to pretend she’d been robbed.”
Liam winces. “No. Unfortunately, that was real.”
“Oh.”
He smiles and touches my face again, placing his lips onto mine, his tongue drawing circles around mine. He scoops me up into his arms and places me down on the bed.
“You look like you could use some rest,” he murmurs.
I laugh as he starts to unravel his towel, because I don’t think it’s rest I’m about to get.
“People are waiting for us,” I protest. “They don’t even know I said yes.”
“So text Laura or something.” He smirks, tossing me my phone.
I laugh and tap out a message to her, then press send.
Me: Be down soon. I’m just lying down x
Laura: And no doubt Liam is on top of you ?? I’d say be careful, but it’s a little late for that. Do we have an answer?
Me: What do you think? Of course I said yes.
Laura: Congratulations, I’m so happy for you guys. And a baby? Holy shit!
Me: I know. Crazy huh?“Becca?”
I look up and laugh. He raises his eyebrows at me as he stands there, naked, stroking his very stiff cock.
“Sorry to interrupt your text session.”
His voice is dry as he edges closer to the bed. I smile and toss my phone onto the floor, then kneel on the edge of the bed in front of him. He strokes my cheek, then runs his tongue over my bottom lip before drawing me into a kiss.
“That’s okay.” I smile at him. “I’m sure you’ll make it up to me.”
