Our Love Story

“Try to sit up, Chloe,” Mason tells her. “Maybe you’re dehydrated. Yesterday was a really long day.”
“Maybe. I’ve never got sick on a plane before, though. I’m pretty mortified,” she says. Right after take off she had gotten sick and had to use one of those little white bags in the seat pocket in front of her.
“Don’t be embarrassed, Bella.”
She drinks the water, and I can’t help but smile when I look at her. Even when she doesn’t feel well she looks so fucking beautiful.
“You’ll feel better once your feet are back on solid ground,” Mason tells her, kissing her hand.
“Let’s watch a movie,” I suggest, handing her an earbud. “You pick.” That perks her up, and Mason gives me a look that says good call. Both of us know Chloe loves to choose.
With a smile on her face, she begins scrolling through the movie options on my iPad.
When she lands on an over-the-top romance, I’m not surprised. While living and loving four men has a lot of benefits, there’s also a lot of testosterone. And usually, someone insists on an action flick.
The rest of the flight goes by without hitch. Chloe leans into me, her eyes closing every so often as she rests, and we watch a comedy unfold about a woman who can’t seem to find love.
I kiss the top of her head, thinking that Chloe will never have that problem, not at all.
Right now, there’s more than enough love to go around.– –Landing here on Oahu, I can tell that Chloe is different than she was when we first got to Tahiti a few months ago.
I remember pulling up at that resort, and Chloe immediately feeling lost on how to interact with us guys in the real world.
But now, after all we’ve been through-- losing the sponsorship, Mason’s accident, and the problems we faced with his family-- Chloe’s more confident in who we are and what we share. When we waited in baggage claim, she held Ethan’s hand, offered a quick kiss to Mason, and told me she loved me when I brought her a latte from Starbucks. When Noah pinched her ass playfully when he passed her, she giggled, not caring who might judge her.
And I’m fucking grateful for her change of heart. My dad’s coming to Oahu for an extended visit, and the last thing I want is for Chloe to tiptoe around what is real. I want my dad to know that I love this woman and accept her for who she is.
When we get to our beachside rental, I watch as Chloe takes in the view.
She sighs, looking out at the blue waves and golden sands of Waikiki. “It’s so beautiful here,” she tells us.
“No, Bella. You’re the real beauty.” I kiss her softly, my hands wrapping around her waist, and we look at the ocean in front of us. The waves crash and the rise and fall of them is soothing.
“Do you think we will stay here long?” she asks.
I don’t answer right away, but the truth is I could stay in this moment forever.
Here with Chloe, our hearts and arms entwined.
But then Mason, Noah, and Ethan join us on the patio and I know it’s only right to step back for a moment and share the woman I love with the guys who I’ve known forever.
I kiss her hand. “I think we will be here a while,” I tell her honestly. “There are some videos we can shoot here. Waikiki has world-class surfing and the North Shore has famous waves. We’ll have a really great time. And besides all that, there’s plenty for you to do. Besides doing the managerial stuff, you can go snorkeling, shopping, and just relax.”
“That sounds nice,” she says. “I’m honestly a little exhausted. Maybe all the traveling we’ve done is finally catching up with me. Once you have the surfing competition finished, we’ll be able to lay low for a while, right?”
“Of course,” I tell her.
“Good,” she says. “Because I’m ready to play.”
I know her words pique Noah, Ethan and Mason’s attention. I raise an eyebrow. “What kinda games?”
She scrunches up her nose, shaking her head. “You boys always have one thing on your mind.”
Noah snorts. “Oh, and you don’t, Mrs. Mile-High-Club?”
She pushes out her bottom lip. “Hey, I didn’t do that this time.”
“Only because it was a commercial plane,” Mason teases.
“Oh, right, because you guys don’t want to have sex on jets, is that it? I’m the only one?” She rolls her eyes playfully. “Honestly, though, who wants to play beach volleyball?” she asks, pointing to the net on the beach. “After flying all day I’m dying to stretch my legs.”
“Sounds good, Bellissima, but you need to put on a bikini for that.”
She smirks, then licks her lips. “Then you gentlemen need to put on Speedos.”
