Small Town Big Man - Page 37

“Fuck,” he moaned into my hair, “I haven’t done this since high school. How do you feel so fucking good against my cock? Even like this.

“Oh God, I feel it too,” I said, moving quicker against him.

His fingers were digging into my side, and in the morning I’d find small bruises there. With a sudden, grunt, he flipped me off his lap and onto my back. He yanked down my jeans and didn’t even bother with my panties. He shimmied out of his jeans just enough to release his cock. Pulling my panties to the side, he thrust into me with a long, drawn out moan. All the teasing and build-up from grinding against him left me so wet, he slid in quickly, bottoming out so his balls slapped against my ass.

“You’re so tight, Laney,” he said, already fucking me quickly. We were both on the edge, both so close. “Your pussy was made just for me.”

My ankles hooked around his back and I urged him on with my feet. Begging him to go harder, faster, at a relentless pace that I knew would have him coming in seconds. His face was red, a vein in his forehead bulging. “Fuck,” he said. “I’m so close.” And ever the gentleman and sex-god, he slipped his hand between us and fingered my clit. Up and down he rubbed it as he fucked me, and I felt the entire world coalescing in that one little spot. Everything inside me tightened and the world got hazy until I was careening into perfect bliss. And when Anders felt me coming and heard my cry, he let himself go, shooting hot jets of cum deep inside me.

Lying on our backs, panting, Anders asked me to hand him a tissue from the nightstand. I rolled over and found a velvet box siting there. I picked it up with trembling hands. “Anders,” I said, my voice breaking, “I really hope you don’t have a rule about women crying after you’ve fucked them.”

He wrapped an arm around me and took the box from my hand. “Generally I try to avoid that, too,” he said with a wink, “but in this circumstance, I can make an exception. Laney, I love you. You are my world. And every day since I met you, it’s harder to imagine living without you.” He slipped the ring on my finger. It fit perfectly. “So what do you say, Laney? Will you be my wife? Will you be by my side always?”

And I said I would.Living in the mountains is so much different than the city, but I wouldn't change it for the world. The summers are perfect, hot during the day and cool at night. Anders helped me build garden beds, and when I’m not working on my illustrations, I’m planting or harvesting. The dead of winter is harsh, and the seclusion of being so far away might not be for everyone, but I've fallen in love with the silence and peace. Anders and I snowshoe around the property, and when we get a fire going and open a bottle of wine on a snowy night, there’s no place I’d rather be in the world.

We had a small wedding a few months after he proposed. Just us at the courthouse. But since I’ve come into Anders’s life, he’s rejoined the town’s life, and there was no way we could stop Candice from throwing us a reception at the Bear Claw. Afterall, she told us, that’s where it all began. So with old friends and new, we toasted to our future and feasted on gumbo and cornbread.

Climbing out of bed, I walk down to the living room. There are still some red embers burning in the wood stove, so I throw a couple of fresh logs in to get it going again. Rubbing the outside of my arms, I look out the window and watch the snow as it falls.

It's the first snowfall of the season. Up here it snows late in the spring and starts early in the fall. That's the beauty of the mountains.

When the fire is roaring again, I grab a quick drink of water and head back up to bed. Covering us back up with the blanket, I snuggle up to his side, curling myself around him as best as I can. I love how warm he always is. He's my own personal furnace.

Closing my eyes, I try to fall back asleep when I'm hit with a twinge of pain.

Shit... What the hell was that?

The pain is quick, just a little cramp that causes my belly to clench. Except now, I'm really wide awake, unsure if this is normal or if I should be concerned. I wait a few more minutes, then write off the cramp as nothing.

Attempting to go back to sleep, I position myself around Anders again, only to get struck with another jolt of pain as it zips through my stomach.
