“I know the type,” she grumbled, swirled the rest of her wine around in her glass, and then downed it.
“On that note, let’s go. Now.” Tristan got to his feet, even more anxious to go, “Thanks for the insight. You a nighthawk?”
Sergey nodded, “Completely.”
“Come down for a nightcap around 1:am, after I get Kyla to bed?”
Sergey smiled, “I look forward to it.”
“You wanna wait fifteen minutes and take pizza with you?” Sasha asked.
“No, that’s okay. We can get a sandwich. Thanks.”
“Goodnight,” Tristan said and let Kyla lead the way with his hand to the small of her back.
“But thanks for dinner, Sasha.” Kyla called back and Sam laughed a big belly laugh at Sasha’s expense. Sasha stuck her tongue out.
“Want me there for this nightcap at one?” Sam followed and asked Tristan.
“No; you’re good.”
Sam nodded and stopped at the door.
When they got outside, Kyla whispered, “How do you know I’m gonna be sleeping at 1? What if I’m not tired?”
“You’ll be tired,” he gave her a carnal look and she felt it between her legs.
“Should you program them to leave Kyle until the morning?”
“Why?” Tristan asked.
“I kinda wanna be there. And if he’s mesmerized, he’ll probably need me to tell him what’s happening. And she might not wait.”
“It’s not our problem.”
“But…huh?”
“He’s bonded with Sasha. He’s her responsibility.”
“Wait, what?” She felt her anger rising.
“I’m not trying to be flippant, princess; I know that he’s a concern to you but we have bigger fish to fry right now.”
“Wait a fucking minute!”
They were now at the bottom of the steps outside.
“No. Quiet. Let’s get back before we talk further.”
She folded her arms across her chest, absolutely pissed, and ignoring some intensity coming from him both at her and in her. But he didn’t seem to care that she was pissed. He grabbed her and lifted her into his arms and then they were whooshing down the beach.
He put her on her feet inside the door and then locked it, took her hand, and climbed the stairs to the bedroom.
He pushed her onto the bed and started tearing at her clothes.
“Tristan, wait. What’re you doing? We have a heckuva lot to talk about!”
“I need you. Right now.”
In a blur, her jean skirt was shimmied off and then her underwear were torn, his jeans were off, and he said, right against her mouth, “Please be wet, baby,” and instantly, her body complied. She moaned as slammed his hips forward and was planted to the root inside her.
His head slowly moved down toward her throat.
“Wait,” she blocked him with her shoulder against her ear, “Wait.”
“Fuck that,” He used her hair, a little roughly, to access her throat and then bit into her shoulder and started to drink.
She felt a hint of frustration but as he started to drink, that hint dissipated and she grabbed his arms and moaned.
He released her throat and their eyes met. He shook his head in astonishment, “I worried so fucking much that I’d lose you, then that I’d ruined you, followed by thinking I’d never have you truly back. I worried that we’d never stop worrying about your period, about your getting pregnant. It’s all different. You’re mine. You’re mine for fucking ever. We could live 400 years or longer. Four hundred years together, with you. Not just the next few decades. The rest of my life.” His mouth was on hers and his hands were in her hair.
Joy bubbled up inside of her. It felt like champagne bubbles in her veins as he drank more. She’d been so shocked by the news of Kyle that it’d temporarily overshadowed all the amazing news they’d gotten at Sasha’s table.
“We’re vampire married,” she giggled, “I didn’t say I do. I didn’t even get my wedding.”
He released her throat, kissed her, and laughed into her mouth, “Want one?”
“That’d better not be a proposal, Mr. Vampire, because laughing into my mouth while your cock is inside me, asking if I want one when talking about a wedding, isn’t an acceptable marriage proposal. At all.”
He laughed a big belly laugh, “What d’ya know? The tough chick with the attitude wants me on bended knee with a diamond ring.”
“It doesn’t have to be that…” she mumbled, embarrassed. She turned her head away. He took her chin and directed her back so she was looking at him.
“I’ll find a better way to ask,” he said, “though just sayin’, I think it’s a foregone conclusion. No escaping me now, princess. Or should I call you Mrs. Vampire? Mrs. Bossy Pants Vampire?”
“I don’t want to escape. Even if I could. I don’t want to. I love you.” Her eyes roved his face and then she gripped the back of his neck, “I love you so much it hurts but it’s the sweetest pain I’ve ever had, my prince.”
“Me, too.” He kissed the tip of her nose.
