He blinks, and I smile. He’s never understood why I say such things to him, but he has to know how much I love him for the beautiful soul that he is. I don’t care about the bad things he does, the people he takes out. Maybe that makes me a bad person, but taking out pedophiles, women beaters, etcetera doesn’t make my husband a bad man in my eyes. Because there are some people in this world, who will never pay for what they’ve done to innocent people. The justice system doesn’t work for everyone, and there are bad people out there who will always escape the law. That’s where the Snakes Henchmen come into it. If the law can’t protect you, get you justice, the Snakes will.
“I love you, little bird. You brought me to life the day you walked into mine. Didn’t even know I wasn’t really living until there was you.” My husband isn’t a man of many words in the presence of others, and he doesn’t show his feelings to anyone, no one but me. He’s never been shy to tell me just how he feels. “You gave me a family, Coral, a family of my own. I love you like crazy, everything about you, including Elisha. One day, she’ll be home with us, and we’ll be complete.”
He wraps his arms around me, pulling me closer to his big body, and I sink into him, content and happy. Life doesn’t always turn out the way you think or expect. I didn’t expect to come back to Tennessee and meet my future husband. I didn’t expect to lose my sister. I didn’t expect I’d be lying in the arms of the man I will love until my dying day, expecting his baby and hoping one day my daughter will be home with us.
Mark didn’t expect to meet me, to fall in love with me, to find a family in me, but he did. I don’t know what the future will hold for us, but I do know that we have many good times ahead of us. We’ll stick together through the bad times because that’s what makes us stronger, and we’ll laugh and love through the good times.
I’ll never look back. From this day forward, I’ll look to the future. Because as Mark says, the future is bright, the future is filled with love just waiting for us to take it.
The End!
