Til Death Do Us Trope (Tropes 1) - Page 15

“None of your business, nosy pants,” she scolds, then giggles and slides the phone under her ass.

“You should know better than to put the phone next to my favorite place.” I move my hands under her thighs and up to her ass.

“I thought you liked my tits best,” she says, trying to keep me from getting her phone.

“I do. They’re my favorite, too. Just like your pussy. It’s all my favorite. What can I say, I’m a greedy man.”

“And a jealous one,” she says, narrowing her eyes at me.

“I like jokes, too,” I say, and pout.

She sighs and pulls her phone out, turning the screen to face me. She’s been texting Arabella and they’re talking about how jealous my brother and I are. I scroll through it and read that they were betting on who would lose their cool first if they just giggled at their phones and didn’t tell us who they were talking to.

“Did I win?” I ask, not the least bit ashamed.

“It was a tie,” she says, wiggling her toes in my lap so that I’ll rub them again.

I do as my queen commands and go back to rubbing her feet.

“Do you wish I was less jealous?” I give her the smile that she loves so much and she rolls her eyes.

“No. I kind of love your caveman tendencies.”

“Good,” I say, leaning down and kissing her ankle. “Because I’m never going to stop.”

Epilogue

Cookie

Ten years later…

The house is full of kids and there are so many sets of twins I don’t know which ones are mine half the time. Between Arabella and Romeo having seven kids, and Jericho and I having six of our own, we take up a whole house no matter where we go.

It’s a good thing our men are rich and have houses all over the globe. There’s even an igloo in Antarctica, but I’ve only been there once. Jericho insisted on getting me pregnant in every continent, and I agreed to fulfill his bucket list.

“When are the men arriving?” Arabella asks me as she comes into the kitchen and grabs an appetizer.

“Any moment now.” I say, washing my hands and then grabbing the candles. “Do you think they know?”

“Not unless one of the kids told. Which is a strong possibility,” she says.

We planned a surprise party for the two of them, and we’ve got the whole family waiting in the other room. They always do so much for all of us, so we thought it would be nice to do something for them.

“Okay, I think we’re all set,” I say, carrying the cake out into the living room so we can all face the front door.

“They’re here,” one of the kids says, but I don’t know if it’s one of mine or not. Oh well, not like it matters.

We turn down the lights and get ready. Everyone is dead silent as we hear the car pull up, then the doors open and close. I can hear them talking as they come to the front door and I’m giddy with excitement.

The jingle of the keys has us all ready with anticipation as the door swings open and Romeo and Jericho stand there.

“SURPRISE!” we all yell at the same time, and in that moment I see where we went wrong.

Romeo pulls out a ninja throwing star from his back pocket and slings it across the room. It comes within half an inch of one of the kids and they scream in terror.

Jericho whips out a crossbow and manages to fire two arrows straight into the cake I’m holding before he has to reload.

Arabella and I are screaming for them to stop, but the two of them are in attack mode.

Romeo opens a nearby closet and grabs the nunchucks. I swear I thought I threw them out, but he must have gotten another pair. He twirls them around and makes his karate moves in the foyer while the kids scatter and shout. Jericho has thrown the crossbow to the ground and opted for the Spanish sword we had mounted above the fireplace to wield his power.

I drop the cake and put my hands on my hips waiting for these two dramatic fools to realize this was all ruined by their overreacting.

When silence fills the room, the two of them stop their grunting and stare at the chaos. I shake my head and throw my hands up in the air.

“So this is why they’ve never had a surprise party before,” Arabella says and I nod.

“I should have known,” I say, wiping cream and frosting from my cheek.

The two men come over to us with smiles on their faces and excitement in their eyes. They must realize what we were doing at the same time, and now they look like how I had envisioned when we set out planning this.

“Please tell me there’s karaoke,” Jericho says as he drops his sword to the ground and wraps me in a hug.

“How else would we have a dance-off?” I say, right before he kisses me.

Chapter 1

Molly

“Molly, just give it more time. I’m sure you’ll conceive.”

I look up from the tasteless salad I’m just pushing around on my plate, not feeling even the least bit hungry. But a dinner out seemed like a lot more fun than sitting in the penthouse condo alone all night for the fourth time this week. Phillip’s working late. Again. Something that’s becoming a little too normal for my liking.

It’s his place, even though the condo is ‘ours’. I still find it odd calling it home, though we’ve been married and living in it for a year. But I don’t think anything has ever felt like a real home before. Not like the ones I’ve dreamed of, anyway. It still feels like it’s his more than it’s mine. We still haven’t gotten around to finding a house. The house th

at will be the home I’ve always wanted. Longed for and dreamed about for most of my life. Phillip seems excited about it, but it keeps getting put on the back burner, and I’m starting to think I am, too.

Cindy places her hand on my arm, giving it a comforting squeeze. Everyone knows we’ve been trying to have a baby from the moment we said “I do.” I wasn’t great about hiding how excited I was about starting a family, and Phillip had encouraged me to be more vocal about it, to see it as a reality. He’d started to make these little dreams I had in my head come alive. It was all a part of the fairy-tale dream I’d fallen into the moment I’d met Phillip.

Young girl falls madly in love with her father’s new business partner, and he sweeps her off her feet in a whirlwind marriage. The press ate the story up. Millionaire Phillip Tanner finally tying the knot. Not only that, but with his new business partner Charles Moore’s daughter. Their partnership brought together two of the biggest hedge fund firms in the country, and it was believed they would be unstoppable together. They have been.

I smile at Cindy, giving her a reassuring look. “I know. When I’m supposed to get pregnant, I will.” I’m not even sure if having a baby right now is something I want anymore, which feels odd because having a family is all I’ve ever wanted.

I wanted all of it. The whole white picket fence, two-point-five kids, and a husband who adored me. I had the adoring husband—when he was around, anyway. I could deal with not being the center of his attention, but I didn’t want that for our children. I’d been a child with a father like that, and I wouldn’t do that to my children. I’d never bring them into a home that never really felt like a home at all.
