A Moosehead Christmas - Page 6

“You okay, babe?” I ask, pulling out of her and moving to her side.

“Mmmm, Hamm,” she moans. “Thank you. I don’t know why I get like that.”

“Don’t worry, Ava. I’ll always be there to catch you. I love you,” I tell her, reassuring her. I kiss her still damp forehead.

“I love you too,” she says, snuggling into me. Reaching down, I pull the blankets over us and reach over and turn the bedside lamp out.

It was a long, trying day, and I am glad that it’s finally over. I can’t help thinking about the store and who would do this. I wouldn’t tell Ava this, but I am more than worried about it.

We will have to get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later.Chapter 5AvaRolling over, I smile and look at my beefcake, hand over his eyes, snoring. I can’t stop myself from fondling his beard. I love nothing more than when he is in between shaving and trimming. I love the way it feels between my legs and on my neck when he bites me. Taking a moment to stretch, I lift my arms above my head and close my eyes when I feel his fingers pinch my nipple. “Hamm,” I moan, turning my head to look into his eyes.

“Good morning, baby. How are you this morning?” he asks before his mouth closes over the nipple he was pinching, and I forget what the hell he just asked me. God, I love how hot his mouth is and how good he is with it. “Answer me, wife,” he growls before he bites my other one while his fingers have fun.

“You know I can’t think when you… Shit!” I groan as I hear the baby cry. No mistletoe for mama this morning. When his mouth doesn’t stop torturing me, I titter on the edge of saying fuck it and spreading my legs or popping him to make him stop so I can get up. But it seems Ezra made that choice.

“Mama.” I hear my name before our bedroom door begins to creek open. Hamm quickly pulls the sheet over me before he jumps up, thank God he has shorts on, and grabs Ezra as he walks out the door. Ugh. I hate being horny all day with no time to sate it. By the time I slide my sweats and shirt on, baby Eli is in an all-out fit. I haven’t stopped nursing him yet, so when he wakes up, he wants the tit, just like his daddy.

“Hey, hey. Come here, little man. Mama’s sorry.” I soothe him as I sit in the chair and lift my shirt.

“You know you need to stop doing that, Ava,” Hamm says, frowning at me. We have this argument almost every day. The thing is, I know he is right, considering when the new baby comes, these tits are going to be for them, but, right now, this is my baby.

“I know. I swear. January first, I will switch to the bottle. I promise.”

“Good,” he says before kissing the side of my head and finishing breakfast. He is just plating the food when my phone rings.

“Babe, can you grab it?”

“Hello,” his gruff sexy voice answers. “Sure. Hold on, Kennedy.” Handing me the phone, I give him Ezra, who is taking a break apparently since he seems to now be more concerned with the twinkling lights while my nipples hang out waiting for him. Boys.

“Hey, girl. What’s going on?”

“I spoke with Migan. Apparently, she received a threatening email. It seems the break-in was personal. Torran has amped up security.” Well shit. Hamm is going to lose it. I will be lucky if he lets me back out of the house.

“Damn.”

“I know. Sterling is already threatening to hide my car keys,” she says, sighing.

“Crap.” I seem not to be able to say more than one word right now. I wonder how long I can keep this from him? No sooner has the thought entered my mind than his phone rings. Well… there goes that.

“Ok. girl. It seems someone has called my husband. Guess it is time to go placate him.” He hangs up and looks at me, his eyes knowing and pissed. “Hamm, calm down.”

“You know you are not going anywhere, don’t you?”

“Look, I know you are worried, but it will be fine. Torran has upped the…”

“Like I give two shits what Torran decides to do. My pregnant wife is not going back to that damn store with some fuck that has it in for Migan running around. You can sew that up, baby. Not happening.” I get equally as pissed and wet when he gets like this.

“Listen here, mister…” I start, preparing myself to let him have it when he pulls me into his body.

“Shush. I love you, woman, and it would kill me if something happened to you or our kids,” he says, rubbing my tight stomach. “I know you love your job, and I would never try to keep you from that, but seriously Ava, this is real. We know nothing. Nothing. Is it worth it? Is it worth somehow jeopardizing this life?” He spreads his arms before wrapping them back around me. Looking into his eyes, I can read the worry and fight in him and know he is right. I would never do anything to risk our family.
