“See how sexy you are?” I asked, directing her attention to the mirror. So unselfconscious, so into it, she ground and pumped relentlessly on me while I played with her clit. Hair all tousled, nipples erect, lips pouty, she looked like a woman who knew how to fuck. And that she was.

“Is that good?” she asked, the wanton seductress, sinking her pussy all the way down onto my cock, building the rhythm, picking up the pace.

“So good,” I groaned. I could tell she was already getting close. So I took my hand off her clit. I didn’t want her to come too soon. I wanted her to work for it. When I denied her instant gratification, she whimpered in frustration.

“You know I always make you beg for it.” I tormented her, grabbing her tits in my big hands as I rocked into her deep. Her eyes nearly rolled back in her head as she sank back into my chest.

“Oh, yes!” she cried out, giving herself over as I impaled her.

“Watch yourself in the mirror,” I ordered.

She opened her eyes and saw my hands grabbing her breasts as they jiggled from my forceful thrusts. A moan escaped at the erotic sight of me pumping into her again and again. Her thighs tensed and quivered.

“You going to come, baby?” I asked, thrusting up deep.

“Yes!” she cried out.

“Watch yourself come!” I commanded. Her eyes locked on her reflection as I pinched her nipples, hard. The sight of me gripping her, claiming her as she sank her pussy down onto my cock unleashed her orgasm, tearing through her. She screamed and came on my cock, as my own come flooded up and into her. I kept right on gripping her, my touch growing less rough, more soothing, as we rested and relaxed into the final shudders.

I brought a hand to her belly, pulling her to me as I kissed her neck.

“Even better than my fantasies,” I marveled, smiling. Violet always was.

“Right back at you,” she smiled back.

Yes, being with Violet was the stuff of dreams. I just hoped her hopes and dreams lined up with mine. They had so far, but I had something big planned for the holiday party. She didn’t know yet, and I hoped she liked what I had in store.

EPILOGUE

Violet

Heath cleaned up so good. Seriously, seeing him in a tux at his family’s ritzy annual holiday party you’d never know he was actually a wild beast. Tailored to his massive shoulders and lean waist, he looked straight out of a James Bond film right on up to his clean-shaven handsome and rugged face.

The fun thing about admiring his movie-star quality good looks was knowing that deep down, he was still my mountain man. Tonight he was all wrapped up in a glossy package and damn did he look fine doing it. But later this week we’d be back up at the cabin in Vermont, toasty and warm in front of a crackling fire wearing absolutely nothing at all as he took me like an animal all night long. It got me hot just thinking about it.

I’d chosen a floor-length, scarlet gown for the party, and I felt like royalty as we arrived at the Waldorf-Astoria. Because didn’t everybody host their annual holiday party at the Waldorf? Yeah, right. Growing up, Mom would string some colored lights at the salon, mix up a bowl of punch, and she and the stylists would do a cookie swap. That was fun, too, but there were less paparazzi at that event.

Tonight at the Waldorf, the limo let us out and cameramen clustered taking our photo as we stepped up the red-carpeted entry steps. They were mostly there for Heath’s brother, Ash, but his oldest brother, Colt, drew a lot of press, too, as the dashing young bachelor CEO of Kavanaugh Industries. The guest list included the crème de la crème of New York society, plus a few British royals thrown in for good measure. Cameras flashing all around me, I smiled and enjoyed the VIP celebrity treatment. It wasn’t how I wanted to live every day, but for the occasional night out? Why, thank you! I strut my stuff next to Heath. He guided me through it all at a fairly rapid clip, but he didn’t growl and swat at them like King Kong, either.

I couldn’t say either he or I were completely comfortable with the fabulously wealthy and famous Kavanaugh family, but we were both getting there. Over the past year it had been amazing watching him grow more and more adept at striking a good balance, connecting more with his brothers and sister while still maintaining his strong and sure independence. He’d always be his own man. And as far as I was concerned, he was still exactly the same gruff and tough hunk I’d fallen for back in January, straight-shooting, solid as a rock and hotter than hell. He just also happened to be a multi-millionaire. Imagine that?

His oldest brother, Colt, was more connected than anyone I’d ever met. He’d done so much for us over the past few months my head still swam. He’d helped grow all the local artists’ businesses up in Watson, helping them gain a radically bigger audience for their work.

As for me? I’d just finished wrapped up filming the first season of Love Your Local. It was exactly the show I’d wanted to make, featuring unique, amazing finds in six different spots across the country. We’d aired episode one, featuring Watson, Vermont, last week and the buzz around it was crazy good, thanks in large part to Colt. When that man set his mind on something, he really knew how to make things happen. I pitied anyone who tried to stand in his way.

Thankfully, his interests were perfectly aligned with Heath’s and mine, and we’d all worked together surprisingly well over the past several months. It now looked like I had a hit show on my hands. It was everything I’d worked for and more. It really struck me as funny—I’d spent all those years clawing my way to the top in L.A., but it was only after I stepped away that I achieved what I’d wanted. I guess that was how life worked. The harder you tried to grab for the brass ring, the farther off it seemed to get. But once you relaxed a little and let yourself enjoy the ride, that was when you found yourself with the ring plus a cherry on top.

I felt happy, really happy, and the interesting thing was how little of it had to do with whether or not the show was a success. Ratings and numbers were just that, statistics. What mattered more was how much fun I’d had in the filming, discovering all those tucked-away diners, undiscovered talents and hilarious local personalities with stories to share.

And you want to know what mattered most? The deep-down happy I felt with Heath. Nothing could compare. In fact, now that I had my hit show, what did I want most? I wanted to slow down and take some more time to be with my man.

Thankfully, the Explore Channel had already agreed to let me do the show on a relaxed timeline. Heath and I wanted to come up with ideas together, traveling around to places we could visit on our own time. He had a bunch of spots he wanted to check out where he’d heard about cool artist communities. We could head to different locations and go out to dinner, scope out the local art and music scene, enjoy the area, then feature it. Could life get any better?

We made our way into the Kavanaugh family holiday party held in a grandly decorated, high-ceilinged ballroom. Bee-lining it over to the lavish spread, we fixed ourselves big plates of mouth-watering food. Thankfully, I’d managed to swallow my jumbo shrimp and dab at my lips with a napkin to get off the cocktail sauce before his grandmother came up to greet us. I’d seen her a few times over the past several months, when she visited New York from her home over in England, and she always made me feel comfortable but she was just so grand. You didn’t have a piece of shrimp hanging out of your mouth and sauce dripping down your chin when speaking to a dowager baroness.

“So lovely to see you again.” She greeted me like an old friend, warmly kissing my cheek. Heath gave her a hug and I could tell he tried to be gentle, she looked pretty frail next to her giant bear of a grandson. She looked in sparklingly good health, but I knew she was in her 80s.

Gigi popped over to greet us as well, giving us big hugs. She lived in New York full time now, after graduating from college that spring. We’d hung out on several occasions, meeting up for drinks or shopping, and each time we did I liked her more, yet still felt like I didn’t know her all that well. Those Kavanaughs were truly masters at ke

eping their cards to themselves.

Gigi smiled and pointed to me, then Heath. “You know Gram had this all planned.”

“What’s that?” I asked, not following.

“The two of you,” she clarified. “Gram called it last year at the holiday party.”

“Oh, pish posh.” Gram waved her hand, dismissively.

“You know you did,” Gigi insisted. “Last year, she declared it was time for Heath to get a woman in his life.”

“She did. It’s true,” Heath confirmed.

“Really?” I grinned, enjoying the idea that Gram somehow had magical matchmaking abilities.

“I’m 85,” Gram declared with regal composure. “It’s only logical that I would want to see all of my grandchildren settled.”

“You’ve done well, Gram,” Heath declared. “Ash tied the knot this May. And now Violet has me wrapped around her finger.” He drew an arm around my waist as he said it, pulling me to his side, right where I wanted to stay.

“I am so pleased,” Gram agreed, eyes sparkling with joy as she looked at me and Heath. “And yet”—her voice took on a more displeased tone as she looked out and over the room—“two remain unattached.”

“Uh-oh.” Heath followed her gaze into the crowd at the party. “Who’s next?”

Gram’s eyes twinkled with merriment. “You know who’s next.”

“Not me!” Gigi exclaimed, looking shocked at the possibility. “I’m only 22! I just graduated from college!”

“No, not you,” Gram chuckled, as if she really did have a magic wand and she was ready to use it. “Though you mustn’t take too long, Gigi. I’m not getting any younger, you know.”

“I promise,” she agreed, the dutiful granddaughter. I looked at her, wondering not for the first time if there wasn’t more complexity to the perfect Gigi. Someday I’d find out.

“No. It’s the Baron I’m thinking of,” Gram declared, sounding downright merry. We all looked over to see Colt, turned out impeccably, of course, in a richly tailored tux. He stood, hand in pocket, looking every inch the aristocrat with his chiseled jaw, bright blue eyes and imperial air.

“Oh, please don’t let Colt end up with one of those ice queens he usually dates,” Gigi pleaded.

“No, I wouldn’t think that would do at all,” Gram agreed. “I see him with someone completely different.”

“Oh, that could be interesting.” Heath seemed to like the idea, watching his oldest brother with a spark of amusement in his eye.
