Her gentle, funny friend had been replaced by a demanding conqueror. His mouth owned her. His lips were seduction made flesh, and he wielded them with the kind of skill that deserved standing ovations and fireworks. That expected them.

She melted against him as their tongues tangled, teeth nibbled and teased. He sucked on her lower lip and her eyes fluttered at the sensation. He was making love with his mouth, her entire body responding to every thrust of his tongue, every caress. It was so much better than she’d imagined a kiss could be. Either he was a unicorn, or she’d spent a lifetime kissing the wrong men.

Both things could be true.

His thick thigh forced its way between hers and she gasped when denim scraped her sensitive clit. She shuddered and Liam’s hands were there, holding her steady and setting a rhythm she was desperate to follow.

This couldn’t happen. She had to stop him.

“Liam,” she moaned.

“I can feel your heat through my jeans,” he said, his words tinged with need as they brushed against her lips. “You need this as much as I do. Let me give you this.”

Give her… She moaned as he kissed her again, parting her towel so her heavy breasts were flush against his chest with nothing between them. “I knew you’d be like this.”

But she was never like this. The way she was squeezing her thighs around him and grinding, shamelessly seeking the pleasure she knew he could give. She didn’t do things like this. Ever.

Maybe you should. Give in, Dani. Just once. Give in.

Even the voice in her head didn’t sound like her own. It was dark and tempting and determined to get what it desired. Liam. Liam. “Liam.”

“I’m here, Dani. That’s right. Take what you need from me. Fuck,” he groaned, tilting his head to swallow her response. Not that she had one she could repeat out loud. What would she even say?

Yes, please. Faster. Oh God, just like that.

She was so close to something she’d only imagined in the past. The big one. A genuine, full-throated, full-body orgasm. So close.

Please.

She wasn’t sure if she’d said the word out loud or not, but her body knew what it needed. Her fingers on her clit. She was so wet she could hear it as her fingers slid through her arousal.

So could Liam. “I’m jealous of that hand,” he growled, thigh tensing as he looked down at where she rode him. “Are you as hot and wet as you feel, baby?”

“Yes.” Her answer was a moan she couldn’t contain, her fingers shaking as they circled her clit. He smacked her ass cheek before gripping her hip again, and that unexpected jolt was enough to send her over. “Oh God.”

She buried her face in his neck and hung on for dear life, muffling her shouts against him as her climax hit her hard. If she let go, she’d be lost, dragged under by the force of the current. She moaned feverishly as Liam stroked her thighs, soothing her through every aftershock until she was leaning weakly against him.

“So good,” she heard the muffled praise as he pressed his lips to her hair. “That was so good, Dani.”

Too good.

She blinked away her blurred vision, tears dripping down her cheeks. That was new, too.

He’d barely touched her and she’d come hard enough to cry. How had she lived this long without knowing what an actual orgasm felt like? How could she ever go back to those small, unsatisfying self-induced quakes when she knew she could have more with Liam?

She’d done that with Liam. To Liam.

“You still with me?” His voice was thick with lust and her body instinctively reacted, already eager to submit to the man whose erection was thick and hard against her. Still needing a release that she desperately wanted to give him.

What was she doing?

“Dani?” He leaned back to look down at her face before swearing under his breath. “No. Stop. Whatever you’re thinking—”

But she was already shaking her head, pushing away from him and reaching for the pajama top she’d tossed on the floor to hold against herself. Anything to cover up her shame.

Too late.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know—I mean obviously I know, I just—I’m sorry.”

“Dani!”

“I swear there was a spider!” she called back, running like the devil was on her heels. The image of him standing there, cheeks flushed and every muscle in his body flexing in restraint burned into her brain as she raced down the hall and into her room, slamming the door behind her.

She caught her breath, listening to him pacing in the hallway for a moment before his footsteps disappeared down the stairs. He wouldn’t push her. He wasn’t that kind of man. Even if she did deserve a, “What the fuck?” at the very least for her behavior.

She pressed her forehead against the door and groaned. She was such a mess. A blind, naïve, foolish mess.
