Alpha Possessed (The Dixon Brothers 1) - Page 12

It hits that this man is in this fight for me. To protect me from these two killers who had something menacing planned.

The fight starts to get everyone’s attention and the people on the patio leap up to watch. The door to the inside opens and someone yells “Fight!”

I rush over to the railing as dozens of people rush out to watch.

Cameron takes a few punches from the small guy, but he shakes each one of them off. And he gives more than he gets.

People cheer as Cameron grabs the back of baldy’s neck and slams his elbow into his face over and over and over again until the ridge of his nose splits into a bloody mess. Even then he doesn’t stop.

“If I see any of you around my girl again,” he shouts as he lets go of the bald guy and he falls to his knees, “I’ll kill you. I’ll murder your whole pack in their sleep.”

The big guy gets up, his feet crunching on the broken glass, and yanks off his cut. He quickly pulls off his boots, jeans, and then starts shaking violently.

“What the hell?” I gasp as brown fur sprouts from his neck. With a loud tear, a huge terrifying wolf explodes out of him, shredding the rest of his clothes to pieces.

“Cameron, watch out!” I scream as the wolf starts charging at him.

He turns and raises his arm just in time as the wolf leaps through the air with his deadly jaws open. His white teeth are huge and look razor-sharp.

I’m already terrified that something bad is going to happen to Cameron. The intense bonding feelings click into place and in this moment, I know without a doubt that he is my mate.

The wolf’s powerful jaws sink into Cameron’s thick forearm and he lets out a roar that sounds like it’s half anguish, half fury.

Blood pours down his arm, dripping off his fingers as he struggles to pry the wolf’s mouth off him. When that doesn’t work, he swings his huge arm and slams the wolf into the concrete. It takes three crunching slams, but the wolf finally lets go and flees back to the bikes.

“It’s Cameron!” I hear Jacob yell as he, Easton, and Roman come onto the patio with all of the other onlookers.

The three of them rush by me and leap over the railing to help out.

But they’re too late. The two Lone Wolf Mercenaries are back in their human forms and starting their Harleys as quickly as they can. With a rumble, they fly out of the parking lot like their lives depend on it. And by looking at Cameron’s flexed back and the fierce way he’s breathing, they do.

Now that the fight is over, everyone starts to make their way back inside to get back to their drinks. I’m the only one still watching from the railing as Easton walks over to the dented truck and picks up the leather cut off the ground.

“Lone Wolf Mercenaries,” he says as he holds it up to show the others.

“I told you that girl was up to no good,” Jacob says with a pissed off look on his face.

I gulp as Jacob, Easton, Roman, and Cameron all turn to look at me. I wave awkwardly as they stare me down, each with a different expression on their face. Jacob looks pissed as usual to see me, Roman looks impressed, Easton looks amused, and Cameron looks like he’s never seen anything so beautiful in all of his life.

I should go talk to them… Try to smooth this out.

They’re watching as I climb over the railing, trying to be as graceful as they were, but these stupid cowboys boots have some kind of vendetta against me and I slip and fall onto my ass.

Easton snorts out a laugh but then decides to quickly get back to his beer inside when Cameron shoots him a warning glare. Roman follows him in as Cameron rushes over to help me off the concrete.

I take his hand and he pulls me up easily. “Thanks,” I say as my cheeks burn red.

“Why were those two after you?” Jacob asks as he charges over.

“I don’t know,” I say with a nervous shrug. “I’ve never seen them before in my life.”

“You’re sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong,” Jacob warns.

Cameron snarls as he turns to him. He grabs his shirt and gets right in his face. “You’re sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. I’m warning you, Jacob. This is my girl. I’ll take care of it.”

“You keep her in check,” he says as he slaps Cameron’s hand away. “We don’t need this kind of heat. Not anymore.”

My man is fuming as his brother storms back inside the bar, slamming the door closed behind him.

“I don’t think he likes me,” I say in the understatement of the century.
