I’m only a few awkward steps from the smoker when he senses me coming. His eyes travel up and down my body with interest before they come back to my eyes. “Hey, baby. What can I do for you?”

I nod toward his cigarette. “Got another one of those?”

He digs into his pocket and pulls out his pack of cigarettes as his eyes heat with intrigue, probably assuming that he’s going to get lucky. Now, I know Cruz and King are happy to share, but something tells me that invitation doesn’t extend to random guys at parties. “Coming right up,” he says, flipping open the top and reaching for one. “I heard you’re the birthday girl.”

I nod, reaching for the cigarette, getting it just between my fingers when a vice-like grip circles my arm, and I’m tugged hard. I scramble to keep my feet under myself as a high-pitched squeal tears from my throat. My gaze snaps up to find Carver and a beat of relief pulses through me for only a second until I realize that he’s not just pulling me away from this smoking stranger, but dragging me toward the woods.

“What are you doing?” I screech, trying to pull back against his hold but it’s far too tight, making my attempts seem somewhat pathetic.

He keeps dragging me, not saying a word, but as we reach the edge of the woods, he slows his pace and I finally feel as though I can walk like a normal human being. His grip loosens on my arms, but not enough to get away.

If he were someone else, I’d be screaming, desperately seeking a way out, yet when it comes to Carver, there’s something about him that eases the fear with me. Without a doubt, I know that I’m safe with him. Always.

We walk far into the darkened woods until the lights from the party are just a dull glow, but still allows for us to see where we’re going. A ferocious growl tears from deep within him, and within the blink of an eye, my back is pressed up against one of the many trees with Carver bearing down on me.

His body presses into mine and my hands instinctively fall to his chest. The tension pulses between us, and I can tell that he has something on his mind, something deep that’s been bothering him, but he’s not quite ready to let the words fly.

I feel the rapid beat of his heart beneath my hand, and with every passing second, the tension intensifies between us. “What …” I let my sentence trail off, not really sure what I should be saying, but before I have a chance to figure it out, he closes the distance.

Then finally, finally, Carver’s warm lips press down on mine as his big hand finds my waist, his other curling around the back of my neck and holding me tight. My lips instantly move against his, a soft moan slipping from between them.

How is it so good with him?

Carver’s tongue sweeps into my mouth, brushing against mine with an erotic rhythm that makes me need so much more of him. We fight for control, me needing to be the one running the show, while Carver is the one refusing to hand it over.

My chest presses up against his and his hand at my waist curls right around. I’m lifted off the ground and I wrap my legs around his waist as he presses me back against the tree, keeping me pinned against his strong body.

My hands roam over his warm skin, taking in every inch of the body that usually holds me close at night, but it’s never like this. I never get to relish in his body, feeling it, claiming it as my own. My nails sink into the strong muscles of his arms and he groans, spurring me on.

I’ve got to have him.

My body heats, my pussy flooding with need as our kiss grows wild with desperation. I thought for sure I was going to end up with Cruz or King tonight, but damn, if Carver is on the menu too, I guess I’ll be ordering dinner, dessert, and a show.

Running out of breath, Carver’s lips drop to my neck and I hold him there as he grinds into me, teasing me with just how good it’s going to be. My nails draw up his back, over his strong muscles and into the back of his hair. My fingers curl into a fist, knotting his hair into my hand and holding him tight. “Carver,” I pant, needing so much more.

My voice is like a lightning bolt straight between us and has him tearing back away from me, wide eyed as he stares down at mine. I search his stare. “What?” I pant in confusion as my legs unwind from his waist and I drop back to the uneven ground. “What happened? What’s wrong?”
