Don't Kiss the Bride
Page 155
I’m the luckiest woman in the world.
The car slows down, turns, then stops.
“We’re here,” he announces.
“Yay!”
I wait for him to come around and help me out of the car, then he puts his arm around me and walks us across what feels like gravel.
“I hope you’re not taking me into the woods.”
“No woods, I promise.”
“Are we at the park?” I question.
“You’re an annoying surprise recipient,” he teases.
“I’m just excited to see what it is.”
He stops walking and moves to stand behind me. His hands brush across my cheeks. “I’m gonna take the blindfold off now,” he says, then whispers close to my ear, “but I think I’ll save it for the bedroom tonight.”
“Promises, promises,” I sing.
The blindfold is whisked away and suddenly I’m staring at a big gray and black—
My heart leaps wildly and I grab his arm.
“An RV?!” I squeal, looking back and forth from the huge vehicle to him. We’re in the middle of what appears to be an RV parking area. “Are you serious?”
“I figured since we never got to take a honeymoon, and you never got your dream of taking off in an RV, it’d be cool if we hopped in this and drove off for a month? Just me and you. And the pets can come, too.”
I stare at him with my mouth open, a hundred happy and nervous thoughts running through my mind. “C-can we leave the bar for a month?”
“Don’t worry about that. Uncle Al’s going to take care of it. Remember we promised we wouldn’t let the business run our lives?”
I nod. We vowed to always make time for each other. “You’re right.” The bar has been successful beyond anything we could have imagined, but it’s hard to disengage from working seven days a week.
My eyes are drawn back to the sleek beauty of the motor home.
“It’s so pretty!” I throw my arms around him and he picks me up and spins me around. “I love it! Where will we go?”
He puts me gently back on my feet. “Anywhere you want. Or we can just drive aimlessly until we find places with the brightest stars in the sky.”
That sounds like the best honeymoon ever.
“When do you think we can go? Soon?”
He winks at me. “How about two weeks from today?”
I go up on my tiptoes and wind my arms around his neck. “You’re amazing,” I say, staring up into his gray eyes. “I love you so much. What did I do to deserve you?”
He bows down and kisses me softly, reaching around to cup my ass in his hands and pull me close. “You vowed to love me, Sparkles. For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. Forever. That’s what you did.”
