'Here is your bedroom,' Wynfreda says, her head low, opens the door and hurries away.
'Thank you,' I say, but I am not sure if she heard it or not.
We enter my bedroom, which is rather small. There is one bed under the wall, a small table, a chair, and a closet by the window. The windows open to the front yard of the castle and are decorated with curtains. Closing the door, Calem hugs me. I need that hug so much.
'I needed to stop you, my sunshine, from physically hurting Kaithria,' he says gently, 'because that girl wanted you to lose control. She wanted everyone to see that you are agressive, which would mean that you are evil, or even a witch.'
I nod. 'Thank you for being there for me, Calem. For a moment, I was out of my mind.'
'I know. I will always be by your side, please never forget about it,' he says, hugging me even tighter. 'Together, we will think and come to a conclusion about what to do in this situation.'
'That woman wanted to get married to my sister's husband, Sloan,' I tell Calem. 'But Sloan fell in love with Megan and married her. Kaithria became mad and killed her mother. Now she wants revenge for not having Sloan to herself as a husband.'
'I understand,' Calem nods. 'She seems to have calculated a clever plan in her mind to become a hindrance in our way to get married. But she will not succeed, believe me,' he adds.
'The worst thing is, Darah believes her, not even knowing who she is,' I shake my head bitterly.
'He is a very superstitious man,' Calem replies. 'He will believe anything of such sort, without even checking it first. Now, hopefully, he is confused and does not believe her blindly, as he did earlier.'
I nod. I hope that something good will happen, and Darah will change his mind. It is already late evening, and the outside of the castle cannot be seen from the window of my bedroom.
'It is already rather late,' I tell Darah.
'You must be hungry,' he tells me, gently removing a strand of hair from my face.
'I have no appetite, Calem,' I reply. 'I do not want to eat anything, even though I am hungry. But such bad things happened during this short period of time, that I will not eat anything. I was hoping that he would give his concent, we would have a friendly dinner, all of us together, and then we would go to sleep in a comfortable bed.'
'I know, I also dreamed about it,' he nods. 'But you must eat something, my sunshine.'
I shake my head. He does not insist.
'I am tired, and I am sad and scared,' I shrug. 'I am never scared of anything, but this time I am scared that Darah will not see who is the real liar here and will not believe us. If he does not believe us, he will not give his consent for us to get married. I am scared of that, Calem,' I can feel a couple of teardrops forming in my eyes.
'Do not worry, my sunshine,' Calem tries to calm me down. 'Everything will be sorted out. And now, it is time to sleep. I want that we slept together, as I do not want you to stay alone in this unfamiliar bedroom alone. But this bed is too small for both of us – let's go to my bedroom. The bed is bigger there.'
I smile at him. I would love to see his bedroom in this castle, which he has told me so much about.
'All right, but we must do it in private, as no one must know that we have spent the night together,' I tell him.
'I agree with you, of course,' he says. 'You will sleep in my bedroom, and by the morning you will return to your bedroom, so that no one will ever know about it.'
I nod, turn off the lanterns and leave the room, holding Calem's hand. He closes the door, and we go down the corridor. His bedroom is not too far from mine – just along the long hallway, to the right, a bit more walking, up the spiral stone staircase and the front door.
He opens the door, and I peer in. His bedroom is bigger and more beautiful than the guest bedroom. The bed is bigger and looks to be more comfortable. I smile. He hugs me again.
'Everything will be all right, my love,' he mumbles into my ear. I nod because I know that he will do everything for me. I know that we love each other, and there is nothing stronger than love.
We take off our clothes and get into the bed. We just cuddle and give comfort to each other.
'Calem, do you have any ideas of how we can make Darah see the truth?' I ask him.
