The Lyon's Cub Caitlin (Lyon The Next Generation 1) - Page 151

“Ladies, today is your lucky day. Kat go up and get dressed. Elena just called, she’s reserved a spot at that spa you like for all you ladies to have a full day of pampering. There’ll be a limo here to pick you up in about an hour.” They hooted and hollered until Danielle remembered the kids.

“What about the babies? Who’s gonna watch them?”

“There’re ten able bodied men upstairs. I’ve got nine kids of my own, pretty sure we can handle the kids for a few hours.”

“This is true, they’re pretty good at taking care of the kids.”

The excitement level was off the charts and my work here is done. I grabbed a fresh cup of coffee and made my escape stopping in the doorway to remind them. “You better get the lead out, you don’t wanna miss your spot; busy-busy.”

I took a casual sip from my cup so that my nosy ass wife wouldn’t smell blood in the water. Ever since she hooked up with her posse it’s not as easy to get one over on her as it use to be. When they all got up from the table and headed for the door after putting their cups in the dishwasher I knew it was a success.

Back upstairs I told the boys where we were at and we sat around and waited. The kids were in various stages of sleep, some had just gone back down while some were wide-awake with my trips being the most awake and looking for shit to do.

Their mother had put them in their big ass playpen in the playroom to get into shit and Cody was at the early pre-k shit he goes to twice a week to give his mom a break so I didn’t have to worry about him getting his sisters into shit.

The dog babysits them better than any human so I knew if anything happened he’d alert me to it, plus the monitor was on my desk where I could see and hear them so I had no qualms about being left alone with a houseful of kids who couldn’t do shit for themselves.

It took them the better part of an hour to get dressed and ready to go in which time I had the boy doing grunt work on the computer. He had no idea of what awaited him but I’d had all night after my nosy ass wife went to sleep to think about what I was gonna do to him.

I shoulda known it was coming after giving permission for her to go off to college with him, but it’s still a bit of a shock. Shit seems to be happening real fast around here if you ask me. But my kid seems happy, which at the end of the day is all any parent wants.

I’m not sure about this marriage shit though it makes me feel like a hypocrite. It just seems to permanent, like I’m really losing my daughter, and I don’t know how I feel about that.

Every time she smiles at her daddy or comes in for a hug, I just see the little tyke who was walk on her toes and toddling to the door in the evenings when I came home from the shop. Where had the time gone?

The women came into the room and I had to listen to my wife give orders, as did the others about what to do in case of an emergency. “Kat, are you bent? This is not my first time at the rodeo. You should get going; Elena’s meeting you there with the pack. Have fun, do lots of shopping, take your time, we’ll be fine.”

I don’t know how well the others were doing but just the mention of shopping and her ass was gone. We walked them down and watched them climb into the limo and waved them off. “Let’s rock!”

I wish Track was here with this equipment and his expertise. Colt had told us this morning about what Catalina was up to the night before and it sent shivers down my spine just imagining the fallout if that shit had gone south. But no matter how I look at this image I can’t get anything more from it than what we already have.

We’d looked at the actual video from the drone again but that was no better. Plus there’s the fact that I can’t concentrate for shit. When I drove Caitlin to school just now I asked if her dad had said anything about the little bombshell I’d dropped the night before and she said no, which didn’t feel right to me, but maybe he was having an off day. Somehow I don’t think so!

The house was eerily quiet since the kids had all either gone down for a nap or were almost there. I felt slightly nervous by the fact that he hadn’t called me on it when I came back from taking her to school but decided that was my own psychosis at work. But still in the back of my mind there’s that feeling that the Colton Lyon I know won’t let something like that slide, not without some sort of explanation.
