She holds her hand out, and I slide it on her finger. The princess cut diamond looks perfect on her hand. “I love it!” she says, looking between it and me. Her arms go around my neck, and she holds me tight. “I’m never letting you go, Lane.”
My throat is thick with emotion. I may have followed her everywhere, but she’s proven that she loves and wants me just as much. We may have met and fallen in love under unusual circumstances, but there’s nothing or no one that can tell me we aren’t meant to be.
“Give me some, baby. I just need a taste, then we’ll go.”
She does exactly as I ask. She leans in to me and seals her mouth to mine, and just like any other time she kisses me, once is not enough. Her family may be waiting a while.
