“Look at me,” he commanded.

She met his eyes.

“This…the loss of your maidenhead. Do you not want marriage?” His dark golden gaze was direct and curious.

Blood thundered in her ears. “If I wanted a husband I wouldn’t be here.”

Shadows danced in his eyes before a brief smile to

uched his lips. “Marriage would bring you a similar pleasure…perhaps more.”

Emotions clogged her throat. Tension arced from her to him and uncertainty filled her. “Elliot, I—”

“Turn around,” he rasped.

God. She almost revealed herself. Gratefully she obeyed. He placed a finger under her chin and tilted her face toward the soft glow of light, searching her expression. “There is no turning back once we reach my chamber. Do you absolutely want this?”

“I want this…I want you.”

She grabbed the lapel of his jacket, pulled him to her, rising up on her toes and fastened her mouth to his—hot, wet, hungry, yet so wonderfully tender. Their first kiss in eight years. His mouth moved over hers, softly at first, teasing her lips open. Emma was lost in a sea of unending sensation. His lips on hers were everything she’d secretly feared, everything she had ever craved. Exciting. Decadent. Her lips parted, and his tongue plunged into her mouth ravenously.

He shoved her up against the wall, thrusting his hips up into the cradle of her thighs. “Are you sure?”

Heat burned her cheeks, and she hesitated. This is Elliot, she reminded herself. Be honest. “Yes.”

A muscle jumped in his jaw, and his eyes darkened dangerously.

“Why me?”

Emma stared in eyes that glittered with lust and felt such regret she wanted to cry. How she had longed to be with him like this. She wished he knew it was her. She lowered her lashes. “You make me feel so much,” she whispered and prayed he did not question it, for her answer was too revealing.

“Look at me.”

She glanced up.

Shadows shifted in his eyes. Carnal. Dangerous. “If you stay, I won’t let you go home tonight,” he promised. “I’ll keep my cock buried in you all night long, and I will not hold back with you. There are times I’ll destroy your sensibilities where you’ll want to run, but I won’t let you go.”

The breath stilled in her chest, and brutal fists of lust slammed into her stomach. “I know.”

He seemed to consider her for a moment, then a slow smile softened the hard edge of his mouth. “I am not sure you understand. I want all of you tonight. Everything.”

She couldn’t stop her shudder. “I want all you have to give as well, Elliot. For tonight.”

He gripped her hand and tugged her down the length of the hallway. In silence, he led her toward his guest room. Nervousness and excitement vied for equal attention.

Her heart pounded as they passed several closed doors. Lady Waverley’s country home boasted fifty-three rooms, how many would they pass before they reached his? She wanted to sink into Elliot’s side, but he held himself rigidly away from her. The silence spoke for them, and it seethed and roiled with hot tension. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. She had hardly gotten a chance to really look at him, too caught up in the moment of seducing him. She looked for changes, and somehow, he seemed harder than he’d been a couple years ago. He seemed raw and untamed, all hard muscle yet so beautifully male. His cheekbones seemed sharper, more sensual, and his lips. God. They were just as full and perfect, though now they were flattened in a thin line. He stood still with both hands buried in his pockets, but his eyes glittered with sensual intent, promising her everything she wanted tonight. Freedom, wildness, and pleasure. She couldn’t handle more. Then she would melt away from his life, treasuring all that he would give her, for one night.

Emma walked slightly ahead of him. A siren, her hips swaying with a natural temptation that had his cock flexing painfully. He was going to make love to her. He knew with every fiber of his soul, he would not turn her away. Not after craving her for ten years. He did not like the painful knot in his gut, the ache in his chest. It was obvious Emma never intended for their upcoming night to be revealed. He understood why she hid behind the mask, but it still ravaged him to know she would come to him in pretense.

“Here we are,” he murmured, twisted the knob, and the door swung open silently.

She swallowed, lifted her chin and swept inside. Dark midnight-blue eyes, nearly black, had seemed overlarge in her pale face. Something inside him clenched at the sight of her obviously pale face beneath the painted mask. Her eyes were wide pools of lust, and was this now apprehension? She was such a contradiction, swallowed up with apparent nerves, then giving him a yearning look, full of innocent desire.

In a bid to give her another chance to leave he spoke, “We can talk, you don’t have to—”

She stole the rest of the words from his lips in a bold and aggressive kiss that had his heart jerking. She possessed a wide, soft, voluptuous mouth and she used it to seduce him with tender licks and nips. Amusement curled though him at the thought he had to be seduced. His tongue met hers, and they dueled together in a kiss unlike any he’d ever had before.

His hand moved slowly, then his fingers cupping the curve of her cheek, his thumb smoothing over her lips. Elliot knew it to be a grave mistake the second his lips claimed Emma’s. He licked slowly across the parted seam of her mouth. Then he kissed her, hard and deep. The taste of her hit his system, hot and intoxicating, making him drunk with need and desire for her.
