Holding You (Love Wanted in Texas 3)

“Well, no. I mean, if I get the chance to date the quarterback of A&M, do you know how amazing that would be?”
My heart instantly hurt for this girl. Slowly shaking my head, I tried to understand how she was feeling but I couldn’t. I wasn’t with Colt because he was some star college football player. I was with him because I loved him. A light breeze blew as I pushed a curl away from my eye. “Okay, Marie. You need something to take back to Roger. Here ya go. Colt and I are very much together, the sex is amazing and every night I pray to God that I’m going to spend the rest of my life with Colt Mathews.”
Marie’s face fell. “Um . . .”
“I’m late, have a wonderful evening, Marie, and good luck with Roger.”
As I walked away I felt my body shaking. How dare he? How dare that asshole recruit someone to dig information up on me? Hopefully Marie would go back and tell Roger what I said and he would move on to someone new.
Walking into the library, I took a quick glance around. Jimmy Mack, one of my chemistry lab partners, stood up and waved his hand. Giving him a slight smile, I headed that way. Everyone started talking about their notes for test that was next week but my mind was not focused at all. Pulling out my cell phone I checked for a message from Colt.
Nothing.
My mind began to drift off to last night as I thought about our date last night.
STANDING OUTSIDE THE movie theater, I glanced down at my watch. Colt had sent me a text and asked if I would meet him here at seven. It was now seven ten. Pulling my phone from my purse, I went to send him a text when a single red rose appeared in front of my face.
Spinning around, I smiled at the sight of Colt. “Hey,” I whispered.
“Hey, back at ya, beautiful.”
My stomach flipped and flopped as I found myself lost in those blue eyes. “So a movie huh?”
Smiling, Colt pulled me into his arms. “Not just any movie, it’s a special movie.”
Pulling back some, I gave him a questioning look. “What makes it special?”
Dropping me from his hold, Colt took my hand and began leading me into the theater. “You’ll see, sweetheart.”
As we walked up to the counter, a young guy stood there. It appeared he was waiting for us. “Colt, it’s good to see you. How have you been?”
Nodding his head, Colt looked at me and then back at the guy. “How’s it going, Mark? I’ve never been better. Lauren and I have been pretty busy with classes so I promised her a date night tonight. Is everything set?”
Wait. What in the heck is going on here? Colt knows this guy?
“I’ve got everything under control and set up,” Mark said as he looked at me and smiled bigger.
“Wait, what’s going on?” I asked as I looked between Colt and Mark.
Colt slapped Mark on the back and reached into his pocket and handed Mark a folded up envelope. Putting the envelope in his back pocket, Mark turned to another guy and motioned for him to do something.
“Theater six, Colt.” Turning to me, Mark let out a chuckle. “Enjoy the movie, Lauren.”
Colt took my hand and practically dragged me down to the last theater. “Colt, what did you give him? Money? Did you rent out the whole theater? I mean . . . if you want to make out, I’m down for a few people being in there.”
Colt tossed his head back and laughed. “No, it wasn’t money. They were box seat tickets for next football season. Let’s hope Mark earned it.”
“Box seats?”
Colt stopped walking when we got to the theater. “Yep, box seats. Are you ready?”
Pressing my lips together, I let the excitement of not knowing what was going on bubble over. Doing a little jump, I clapped my hands and said, “Yes! I’m ready.”
“Close your eyes and I’ll lead you in.”
Narrowing my eyes, I chewed on my lip before doing as Colt asked. Taking my hands, Colt led me into the movie theater. He stopped and positioned me and placed his lips to my ear. “Open your eyes sweetheart.
Feeling my heart beating in my chest, I slowly opened one eye and peeked. Both eyes snapped open and I let out a gasp as I looked around the movie theater.
