“Let’s go do this. ” I smiled and followed Kevin out and down the stairs.
The thought of Whitley getting ready in our bedroom was driving me insane. I just wanted to see her. I just wanted to talk to her for one quick second.
“Hold on. ” I walked up to the master bedroom door.
“Stop! Layton, you can’t go in there,” Kevin called out.
“I’m not. I just want to hear her voice. ” I knocked on the door.
“Whit? It’s me. ”
Courtney barely opened the door. “Layton! What are you doing?”
“I just want to hear her voice, that’s all. ”
She rolled her eyes at me. “Gah! Fine. Hold on. Step back a bit, you overly romantic ass. ”
Courtney shut the door, and I heard her talking. The door slowly opened, and I smiled when I smelled Whit’s familiar perfume—Coco Chanel.
“Hey, baby. I heard you and the boys had a little bit too much fun earlier,” Whitley said.
I let out a small laugh. “Yeah. ” I reached my hand around the door.
The moment she took my hand in hers, I felt my stomach drop.
God, I love this girl more than life itself.
“Whitley?”
“Yes, Layton?”
“I love you so damn much. I just want to hold you in my arms and never let go. ”
I felt her squeeze my hand.
“I swear to God, Layton…if she cries and messes up her makeup before she even gets down the aisle, you will have a black eye for sure!” Courtney called from inside the room.
“I love you, too, Layton, more than anything. I can’t wait to see you. ”
I let out a laugh. “What are you wearing under your dress?”
She giggled. “Let’s just say, you won’t be disappointed. ”
Oh God. I want her. I need her.
“Let’s just skip all this and leave for the honeymoon now. ”
“Okay, that’s enough. You have to get ready, Whitley. And all this lovey-dovey shit is making me sick. ” Courtney pulled our hands apart. “You’ll see her in a few minutes. ”
I took a step back as I watched the door close. I leaned up against the door and rested my forehead on it. “I love you,” I whispered.
Reed slapped my back and pulled me away from the door. “Dude, let’s go. We need to get down there. ”
I smiled as I looked at my best friend. I wanted him to be as happy as I was, and it sure as hell wasn’t with Anna. Reed had just told me a few hours ago that Anna wouldn’t stop bugging him about moving in with her. He was tempted to do it just to shut her up. Then, he’d talked to Whitley, and I’d never seen him so pissed in my life. When I’d tried to talk to him about it, we had kept getting interrupted.
As we made our way outside, I glanced over toward the master bedroom windows. In less than thirty minutes, I was going to be married to the girl of my dreams.
She is going to be mine forever.
